Log 002 | Video + Action - Can't Kick Those Old Habits
Who: Jim Kirk & Anyone
Broadcast: Yes, fleet-wide
Action: On the space station
When: Feb. 14 (or any other day you want to work out for the action)
[ Video ]
Okay, so I think I have the money situation figured out here.
We get money by being popular on this "show" and being "ranked" -
[ Can everyone hear his continued disbelief of this load of crap they are being fed, but fine he's playing along for the time being. ]
But we can also get it on the station by offering to do work. Am I right? Which, by the way, just seems like it's adding insult to injury.
So aside from my making a cardboard sign and tacking it up in the space station, I'll set it out here too - I'm generally good with technology and fixing things in general, so if you ever need anything fixed I'm more than happy to get whatever it is you need running again for a fair price.
And if anyone has a recommendation on someplace to get good, cheap clothes on this station, I'd appreciate it. And real food.
[ He can only live so long between his uniform and the gray jumpsuit and replicated food items. That buffet on the Blue Fish ruined him to early. There are limits. ]
[ Action ]
[ As he said, he made his way down to the space station to see if he can drum up some business and start earning some cash. He hates being a free loader or being put on charity - he just hates being non-useful in general and he's terrible at sitting around and doing nothing. Besides, job hunting might also come with info hunting, so it's two birds with one stone in a sense. So off to find a job and some food that hasn't been replicated. It never tasted the same, no matter how much the product might say otherwise.
One really should not be surprised to see him chatting someone up, male, female, green, tailed, scaled ,or otherwise. It might be equally common for him to be getting slapped, and there's about a 65% chance of catching him in the midst of a bar fight if you find him later in the evening, or leaving in the company of someone. He did mention he had a reputation to keep up, and everyone needed some outlet for dealing with their situation. This was his.
He will try not to look to chagrinned making his way back to the ships come the morning though... ]
[ ooc: feel free to hit him up anywhere on the station as he will literally be going around every inch of it. And by all means, be the one being hit on, or just interrupt his night/morning because he's made poor life choices somewhere along the way! ]

I'm assuming the man who hired me hasn't gone to the authorities because whatever is in this case is illegal. I'd prefer to know as little about it as possible, but I have no moral qualms with stealing from a thief. I'm just interested in getting paid.
[ There's a pause wherein he considers Kirk's outstretched hand and then the body on the ground, again, aware that he should just be on his way and yet he wants to make his point. ]
She's unharmed, regardless. I was precise.

And you're all right with that? That's how you want to live your life?
[ He frowns at his words though, the anger flaring in those blue eyes. ]
It hardly matters if you were precise or not. You harmed her - she's unconscious. If I had not been here, you would have done the same thing, no? Left her body for someone else to find, someone who might not be so considerate and take her to get medical treatment.
If you ask me, in a battle of morals, you're on the losing end of this, buddy.

... I know. [ It's said so simply. ] I never claimed otherwise.
You're free to be the paragon of morality between the two of us, I just thought that I would stop long enough to explain what was happening to you before I left. Next time I'll remember that it's just more trouble.

[ Take every opportunity, yes? Besides, as far as Kirk was concerned, this was the perfect moment to try and appeal to the better part of Sasuke. Regardless of the woman's sins, she hadn't done anything to him, and he hated seeing good people getting put down. He was a believer in right and in justice, after all. ]
Next time maybe you shouldn't do this, just like right now you should give back what you stole.
[ Which would be the point when he dropped down and spun around in a sharp kick. Oh yes, all those practice during his recovery had not gone to waste. ]

All the same Sasuke actually opens his mouth to respond when Kirk goes on the offensive, admittedly not expecting it but if his reflexes and years of shinobi training failed him just because of that he'd have to lock himself away in his room and never again emerge. His dodge is immediate, jumping over that leg and back as well to put more distance between the two of them. ]
Tch--
You're not a very good listener, are you? [ About as good -- or as stubborn -- as Sasuke himself. ] You don't want to start this.

[ Are they going to have to wait for Christmas for your heart to grow two sizes?
He had hoped that might catch the other off guard, but the guy was good and dodged. He obviously had skill, and Kirk wasn't much one for a fight (outside of a bar), not to mention the girl was right there. He couldn't leave her, or rather he wouldn't, but he felt a bit better forcing the man back from her. He didn't think Sasuke would do anything more to her, but one never knew. After all, he had knocked her out without any regard for her welfare once he had gotten what he wanted. ]
I think someone should. I can't say I feel right letting you simply waltz around the station knocking people out and stealing from them.

In that case you're better off not ladening yourself with the responsibility. I'm going to do what I'm going to do and you can do what you're going to do. She suffered retaliation after first committing a crime herself.
[ One he illustrates by again removing that case, looking it over just to be certain it's indeed what he wants. ]
I was gentler than anyone else would've been.

[ It's okay, the Grinch's basically broke the little monitor in the cartoon. There's room yet, he's sure. ]
I guess that's the problem with trying to be a good man. We have a problem just letting someone get away with something. And again - there's here-say.
[ He doesn't go for the case again, not wanting to incite a potential attack on the girl or getting to far from here and something else happening. A life was more important than the object, after all. ]
I think you and I have a very different definition of 'gentle'.
