Log 002 | Video + Action - Can't Kick Those Old Habits
Who: Jim Kirk & Anyone
Broadcast: Yes, fleet-wide
Action: On the space station
When: Feb. 14 (or any other day you want to work out for the action)
[ Video ]
Okay, so I think I have the money situation figured out here.
We get money by being popular on this "show" and being "ranked" -
[ Can everyone hear his continued disbelief of this load of crap they are being fed, but fine he's playing along for the time being. ]
But we can also get it on the station by offering to do work. Am I right? Which, by the way, just seems like it's adding insult to injury.
So aside from my making a cardboard sign and tacking it up in the space station, I'll set it out here too - I'm generally good with technology and fixing things in general, so if you ever need anything fixed I'm more than happy to get whatever it is you need running again for a fair price.
And if anyone has a recommendation on someplace to get good, cheap clothes on this station, I'd appreciate it. And real food.
[ He can only live so long between his uniform and the gray jumpsuit and replicated food items. That buffet on the Blue Fish ruined him to early. There are limits. ]
[ Action ]
[ As he said, he made his way down to the space station to see if he can drum up some business and start earning some cash. He hates being a free loader or being put on charity - he just hates being non-useful in general and he's terrible at sitting around and doing nothing. Besides, job hunting might also come with info hunting, so it's two birds with one stone in a sense. So off to find a job and some food that hasn't been replicated. It never tasted the same, no matter how much the product might say otherwise.
One really should not be surprised to see him chatting someone up, male, female, green, tailed, scaled ,or otherwise. It might be equally common for him to be getting slapped, and there's about a 65% chance of catching him in the midst of a bar fight if you find him later in the evening, or leaving in the company of someone. He did mention he had a reputation to keep up, and everyone needed some outlet for dealing with their situation. This was his.
He will try not to look to chagrinned making his way back to the ships come the morning though... ]
[ ooc: feel free to hit him up anywhere on the station as he will literally be going around every inch of it. And by all means, be the one being hit on, or just interrupt his night/morning because he's made poor life choices somewhere along the way! ]

Re: [ video ]
There are quite a few people with those skills around. Though not as many as I would like. There's a surprising amount of people who have never left their main system.
Re: [ video ]
Heh, true, which makes it competitive, but it's a big station. And I was never scared of a little competition anyways.
[ He grinned, looking suddenly much younger. ]
That wouldn't surprise me. I knew people back in my home town that never planned to leave that twenty square mile town, much less leave the system.
Re: [ video ]
[ But then Obi-Wan is temple-raised. He probably has a family out there that he's never even met. They simply exist. ]
Re: [ video ]
For them it's home. It's a place they are comfortable and happy, and for some that's all they need in life to feel fulfilled. More power to them. For me, my home is a spaceship, so so long as I can return to her, it doesn't matter where in space I am.
[ It was why he had her identification number tattooed down his ribs, big and bold, a reminder of the place he called home and the family too. Earth was smaller on the inside of his arm, a reminder of where he had come from, and the home he had when his time with the Enterprise was done. ]
Re: [ video ]
Re: [ video ]
But the place you live - wouldn't that be counted as your home in some ways? I think it's always possible to have more than one home to go back to, more than one place you can feel happy and content in. And ties, well, that's more a matter of perspective on the term, I think. I feel tied to a number of planets, but I don't know that I would call them home though.
Re: [ video ]
[ For all his time on Coruscant, Obi-Wan certainly holds no fondness for it. There are planets he might prefer over others, but that's hardly a feeling with any real strength to it. ]
Re: [ video ]
[ He has to grin and laugh a little bit at that. ]
I'm the exact opposite. I think I like one planet to many, honestly.
[ He could only name a few he truly disliked, one of them being a particular ice planet, but that was not the planet's fault so much as the circumstances that had brought him to be on it. ]
Re: [ video ]
A drifter's lifestyle suits me fine. Being able to help while doing it - better suits a Jedi than others.
Re: [ video ]
Ah, that we can agree on. Wanting to help has gotten me into trouble a few times before.
[ But his smile said he wasn't precisely sorry for it. He wasn't the sort that could bypass someone in distress. ]
Re: [ video ]
[ Jedi only make it worse, a voice calls out in his mind. Obi-Wan shakes it loose. ]
Re: [ video ]
Nothing worth doing is ever easy, as they say.
Re: [ video ]
Re: [ video ]
Hah, maybe not, but I find it to be an oddly true statement quite a lot.
Re: [ video ]
[ He runs a hand through his beard. ] Perhaps it is.
Re: [ video ]
I shouldn't take up to much more of your time, Obi-Wan, and I have some appointments. But I look forward to getting to sit down and talk with you some more.
Re: [ video ]
Re: [ video ]
And with you?
[ That's the right goodbye, yes? It seems like it should be. ]
