[Cole comes closer again, holding out both hands, palms up and open.]
A spirit is what is. I was Compassion. Solas had a lot of Wisdom friends. I met Faith twice, different Faiths.
What it is is shaped by mortals. Benevolent spirits don't interact with mortals much because it changes them. We... help. From the Fade. But we don't interact.
I heard a story once.
He met her in the Fade and she was Love. They spent the day together, simply enjoying one another's company. He summoned her again, and they talked of the Fade and the World and he fell more in love and he wanted her, to feel her against him, to keep her with him.
He summoned her a third time and Desire came and said "You wanted too much".
[It's a simplification of the story, but it gets across the point. By wanting, rather than merely loving, the mortal changed the spirit.]
Mortals change spirits. And when we enter them, we change them with the overwhelming nature of what we are.

Are there no mortals of your world who wouldn't change? Or is that kind of coexistence impossible?
[This 'Fade' thing he keeps mentioning at least implies they're not entirely separated the way humans and seraphim currently are, but... it's kind of sad, even so.]

Some mages can, I suppose. They accept us for what and who we are and let themselves simply be with us. We're predictable. I want to help people, stop suffering. Wisdom wants to learn. Desire wants all it can have of you.
[He gives a small shrug, looking off elsewhere.]
You should talk to Solas. He knows a lot more than I do. He taught me about myself and what I am.

[That could be an interesting conversation, even if it's beyond his understanding. He does love to learn.]

I'll go find him. He can answer your questions a lot better than me. He's clever.
[Without waiting for Mikleo to reply, Cole turns and vanishes between one step and the next in a whip crack of smoke.]

That. Is a thing that just happened.
He has no idea how. Isn't the spirit supposed to stay in its vessel?? How does the vessel disappear to??
