"Sent away", not "escaped"... so it was our captors who did it, then. Did you remember this place while you were free?

I did not. All my memories returned once I awoke here once more, but as I wandered Thedas I was unaware of my time here, as if it had simply been erased.

That's... unfortunate. There seems to be no end to their meddling with us.

[He's not sure if that's worse or on par with sticking the augment in their heads. Ugh...]

At least there is good company to be found.

[ Which is another nudge to see how he reacts, to see how he takes it considering the moment before. ]

[Mikleo hesitates a moment, then nods.]

Yes, that's true. There are many kind people in the fleet. Even those who can't see me have made me feel welcome.

[He won't deny it, but he can't say for sure whether or not Solas can be counted among them. How he speaks is very gentle, but it conflicts harshly with how he feels. He could be a very good liar, for all Mikleo knows.]

[ He pauses, considering, for a moment, before he speaks. ]

There are those that cannot see you?

[ Most spirits are visible in Thedas, but, again, he is shown that Mikleo is not most spirits. Instead he is unique, and different, and Solas is curious and concerned all at once. ]

Most people, yes. In my world, we call it "resonance"- the ability to see or hear my kind. I've traveled across an entire continent and only half a dozen humans in total were ever aware of it.

[There's little sense in dancing around it. It's still very strange to him, to have met so many here who even have the capacity to perceive him.]

This place is... different, but resonance is still rare.

Resonance. I see.

[ Curious. He can understand why the term would be used, but it's definitely interesting to think that only some people could see spirits. Were there people in Thedas as blind as that? Solas cannot imagine walking around and not knowing the connections people had to spirits and the Fade...

Waking up in a world of Tranquil. Maybe he could.

It must be different, for this one, then, to have so many capable of seeing and speaking with him. ]

It must be remarkable to have so many new conversation partners.

It's been a learning experience, I won't deny that.

[He's not the most graceful when it comes to conversation.]

It's also been somewhat jarring. Being invisible to most people also meant moving undetected from place to place. There is a certain level of safety in that.

I can only imagine.

[ Solas doesn't mind all that much; he is learning, and that is all he cares for. ]

And that safety is gone here on the fleet. I can understand. [ Not that he'll elaborate. ] Do you have companions from your own world here? I am sure they will stand at your side should anything happen.

I do, yes. Sorey is here- we grew up together, and as a team we're quite powerful, so we know how to keep each other safe.

[He says it politely enough, but it could also act as a warning, in case this man's resonance reflects his true self. Mikleo has support here, and safety, and he wants it known.]

[ The fact that Mikleo makes a point to say how strong he and his friend are together riles Solas a little, prickling at the edge of his senses before he turns his head away, his smile soft and almost deceptively innocent. ]

I, too, have been joined by quite powerful friends. I do not fear many dangers here on the fleet but it is good to know that company is assured should the worst come, isn't it?

[Message received, loud and clear. In a way, it's a relief- if Solas had acted oblivious or dismissed it, Mikleo would have been more suspicious. That's a little too nice, almost to the point of being fake. The response he got is more predictable and therefore comforting.

It isn't much, but he relaxes a tiny bit.]

Yeah. I'm glad that things are peaceful for the most part here, though. I'm not looking to fight anyone.

[ They understand each other, then, and Solas, too, is less defensive. He calms, softening himself before he nods, walking forward as if nothing had changed between them. ]

It is a welcome respite from the dangers of our own worlds. Not many can claim the calm of the fleet as such a soothing gift, but it is certainly one whether we are fond of it or not.

You won't catch me complaining.

[Considering how much malevolence is hanging about the place, not finding any hellions is a huge blessing.]

Is your world very dangerous, then?

I imagine not.

[ He hums, almost non-committed, before he nods. ]

Indeed. There were many creatures, human or otherwise, that threatened our existence, long before I mention the hole in the sky.

[wait what]

A hole in the sky?

Yes, called the Breach. It was caused by a rupture and an extreme amount of power from a man who wished to be a God.

[ And other things, but Solas will not mention that. ]

...A human man?

[Genuinely curious- and borderline critical, but it's definitely a question rather than an outright assumption. Solas doesn't feel like a human, and his features are different, but he'd rather not cause offense from the start. ]

He was a human once. Who can say what he was as he broke the world.

[ Solas shakes his head, offering a wan smile. ]

Power can change all things.

That much is true. I ask only because the calamities that the world I hail from is struggling with were caused by humans, willingly or not. It's difficult not to assume.

Difficult, but often the obvious answer. It is difficult not to lay blame at the feet of humans when they are so often the cause of all horrors.

Mm.

[Which is sad, really, because they're not so bad.]

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike them. But sometimes they're dangerous.

Danger is inherent in all beings. It is how they choose to use their power that makes them a threat or not.

[ Solas shakes his head, smiling. ]

Sometimes, even those we thought nothing more than dangers can prove to be allies.

You don't have to tell me that. My closest friend is a human. I've always known at least one of them could never hurt me.

[The rest... well, that came gradually. Years of conditioning from Gramps that they caused nothing but trouble.]
