seriously, there are so many dudes on this ship
Who: everyone on the SS Slashbait SS Bloodsport!
Broadcast: none.
Action: mingle post ; closed to SS Bloodsport crew.
When: pretty much anytime today!
[ So, a week after the SS Bloodsport has gotten itself a capacity upgrade, it's gotten a new pilot! This calls for some quality time together, checking in with the captain, and generally doing whatever the heck you wanna do.
And don't worry! The pilot definitely knows what he's doing. :) ]

pilot's quarters!
his approach is quiet, as usual, but he... actually politely knocks on the doorframe before getting that far into the room, just to give the kid some warning.]
Hey, you breaking things? [he's teasing, of course.]

Don't be ridiculous. That's your job, Captain.
[ a pause, and he frowns. ]
You just missed Sora. I can call him if you want--what'dyou need?

[ riku blinks owlishly, confused and surprised. why? ]
Did... did something happen? [ sure, they're allies... friends. but he doesn't expect that robin would seek him out. ]

no subject
... um. riku scratches his cheek, looking down. ]
I'm okay, I guess? [ why is that important enough to come in person? ] Did you notice Michael hasn't been around?
[ typical riku: never let the subject of himself ever dominate the conversation. ]

he has to wonder what's up... but he knows that he and michael aren't particularly close. it might be best to just... leave it be? that makes him feel worse, though. what if he's in trouble?
he notes he's spacing out-- and shakes his head. ]
I'll probably go outside once Sora gets back. Just... for a sweep, see if I can feel him anywhere.
no subject
It wouldn't hurt. I'm keeping an eye out too. I've got a feeling he'll show up again, I'd just... like to know where my crew's disappeared to.
[not knowing is the tough part. it'd be easier if Michael'd just said, "hey, going for an angel walk out in space, be back in two weeks", or whatever happened. regardless, he decides to move their conversation again.]
Speaking of Sora, is he doing well?
no subject
[ at the topic of sora, his whole self brightens, a smile tugging at his lips. ]
He's pretty good at piloting. I guess he's learned--don't worry, he's not gonna crash the ship anytime soon. He said something about needing to make some snow angels. [ he actually laughs. ] Figured I'd hold down the fort while he's gone.
no subject
Good. [he pauses, softly...] You really like him, don't you?
no subject
He's stayed my best friend for years, somehow. I think I'd call that love... him and Kairi.
[ he passes his fingers through his hair, bangs first, like he's trying to hide his eyes. they show way too much emotion that he's not sure he wants robin to see. ]
no subject
You haven't mentioned a Kairi before. Another friend?
no subject
Kairi and Sora, they've been my best friends since I can remember. She's the responsible one, when me and Sora're too thick-headed. [ there goes another laugh of his--it's softer this time, and he pushes his hair back again, fiddling with a strand near his neck. ]
We've been apart for... [ he shakes his head and his hand drops to his lap. ] I don't know. A while.
[ he finally looks up to robin, and seeing the quirk of his grin, he tilts his head. ]
What?
no subject
Nothing, I'm just... glad that you're happy.
[his smile grows a little wider--and he doesn't seem like he's making fun, either.]
If Kairi ever shows up, she's welcome on board as well.
no subject
robin is glad he's happy? of course he understands what those words mean, but he can't for the life of him understand the sentiment. first the crew capacity upgrade, and... this, too? he can't help but wonder if there's something going on here. he looks down at his journal, trying to figure out something to say, and his head snaps up. ]
You're-- [ what? kairi, too? of course he'd love for kairi to be with them, but his stomach twists. ]
I don't get it. Why're you so nice about this? [ he tries another option. ] Sh... shouldn't a captain be more choosy about his crew?
no subject
Sora was an easy choice. I wanted a pilot, and now I've got one. But... [he shrugs.] When push comes to shove, I think a crew that cares about each other is going to hold together better than a crew of skilled strangers.
no subject
riku can't deny that observation, he thinks that too. sure, he doubted sora's abilities at first, but that was at first. he frowns after a moment and sighs. ]
You're right. Sorry.

[ deflecting with humor, yes! ]
no subject
All right, all right. I wanted to check in about that other stuff, too. From after Rin left.
no subject
Yeah? I wondered where you went, but I wasn't gonna pry.
no subject
[that's weird to admit out-loud. it was weird to admit around a bunch of dragons and it's still weird to admit to a human... he runs his hand through his hair, pushing through the topic.]
And I might have gone drinking a little, after, with a friend of mine. Just blowing off steam, I guess.
