Who: Luke Skywalker
Broadcast: Fleetwide (Accidental)
Action: Marsiva
When: 2/16
[Luke Skywalker is sitting pensively in front of one of the wide windows on the Marsiva's Hospitality Deck. Rather than staring out into the darkness of space, he's bent over a tiny silver disk in his hands. It's open, revealing a series of wires, something mechanical and complex. Lacking any proper tools of his own, Luke is replying it with careful fingers and, occasionally, teeth.]
[Lacking any proper supplies, he's forced to improvise. At one point, he removes the glove on his right hand. There's a burn over the back, but the flesh cracks open to reveal more wires and mechanistry. Luke pulls some wires out, breaks them and inserts them into the disk. It seems to cause some of the fingers on his hand to twitch irregularly, but the disk is repaired. He presses a button, and a little blue holograph of a smiling couple appears.]
[He stares at it for a little while.]
[Finally, Luke notices that he's being recorded.] Hello, there. How long have you been on, hm? [He reaches over and turns off the feed.]
[Actually wait. A second later, Luke turns the feed back on.] I suppose if all of this is being recorded, I ought to introduce myself. I'm Luke Skywalker. It's a pleasure to meet you. [His smile kind of... twitches.] All of you.

Of all the traits to be hereditary...

We're in another galaxy right now. Don't ask how-- we don't know. We just are. If you want the specifics, you'll have to ask the Atroma. They're the people supposedly responsible for bringing us all here-- though they've been suspiciously quiet on the technicalities. Go figure.
Additionally, there's a time distortion problem. Not only are there a chunk of people here gathered from a range of different galaxies, but also from a range of different times within those galaxies. For example-- I'm from about two decades before you. It's Year 16 where I'm from.
[She's using the dating method used before the Battle of Yavin. Year 16 is... the year the Empire rose. The year the Luke was born.]

I'd ask you about something back then to confirm it, but I'm... not very good with history. [He's heard that pre-Imperial information is difficult enough to find on Coruscant, much less a backwater ball of sand like Tatooine.]
That still doesn't explain, um. [How does one bring up one's war criminal father with delicacy? Luke is... not the best at delicacy.] So what do you mean by 'Anakin'?
[#nailedit]

Luke, your dad is here. Alive. [Because while the PT kids have found out about the Empire, nobody has yet dropped the Darth Vader bomb. Only Obi-Wan and the OT kids know, so... Ahsoka, personally, has been operating under the same naive assumption Luke once did-- that Anakin died in the take-over.]
He's from the same time as me. [Two decades ago. She hesitates.] That is to say, you're... basically... the same age.

[Wait, no-] What do you mean again?

I don't really like lying, I mean, did I seem like I did... [Hold up.] You knew my father? [Campbellian archetypes for 500, Alex.] You're a Jedi?
no subject
... No, I'm not. I was, but I left the Order a few months ago. From my perspective, anyway.
Before I left, I was Anakin's padawan learner. [Wait, does Luke even know that word?] ... Apprentice. Anyway. Yes, I know him. Present tense.
[IF YOU PLEASE. He's not dead yet.]

... That's right. Well, only for three years, if I'm being honest.
[But somehow it felt like much longer.]

[uh]
[whatever] That sounds... amazing. [Now that he's caught his breath, his smile returns, brighter than before but no less genuine.]

Anakin? ... He's a great teacher. Well-- at most things, anyway. Lightsaber combat, tactics, flying... he's brilliant. A little unorthodox at times... but so am I! So I guess you could say we were well matched.
[A chuckle, as if she just thought of something.] Just... don't ask him about his thoughts on politics.
no subject
Oh, don't worry. I leave the politics to my sister if I can.

Anakin is-- well, he's... brash. Passionate, impulsive, daring, confident. It's ... not really the "Jedi" way, strictly speaking. But... I like it.
no subject
From how you describe it, he sounds a little like... [An imaginary friend Luke would have made up when he was nine.] Well, like a hero.
[Or a war criminal, you know, whatever.] Why do you like it? If you don't mind me prying. I don't know how much you know, but... well, I'm always curious to hear more about my family.
no subject
... What? Of course he's a hero. [She says that like it's a given. Like she doesn't understand why Luke's so surprised.]
I know-- I know about the death of the Order, [she tries to rush past that sentence as quickly and lightly as possible, because lingering on it hurts too much] but aren't there any records from before the Empire took over? Holos? News reports?
no subject
If there were, do you really think they'd make it all the way to Tatooine?
no subject
Yeugh. Good point.
Wait-- what were doing all the way out there on that dustbowl?
no subject
That's... where I grew up.
