[Luke Skywalker is sitting pensively in front of one of the wide windows on the Marsiva's Hospitality Deck. Rather than staring out into the darkness of space, he's bent over a tiny silver disk in his hands. It's open, revealing a series of wires, something mechanical and complex. Lacking any proper tools of his own, Luke is replying it with careful fingers and, occasionally, teeth.]

[Lacking any proper supplies, he's forced to improvise. At one point, he removes the glove on his right hand. There's a burn over the back, but the flesh cracks open to reveal more wires and mechanistry. Luke pulls some wires out, breaks them and inserts them into the disk. It seems to cause some of the fingers on his hand to twitch irregularly, but the disk is repaired. He presses a button, and a little blue holograph of a smiling couple appears.]

[He stares at it for a little while.]

[Finally, Luke notices that he's being recorded.] Hello, there. How long have you been on, hm? [He reaches over and turns off the feed.]

[Actually wait. A second later, Luke turns the feed back on.] I suppose if all of this is being recorded, I ought to introduce myself. I'm Luke Skywalker. It's a pleasure to meet you. [His smile kind of... twitches.] All of you.

And you're familiar enough with the technology to manipulate or repair it yourself?

I designed most of it myself. The basic structure is medical standard, of course, but I redesigned the interior couplings and auxiliary functions. [He shrugs, nbd.] Why do you ask?

[ ... well, there's hardly harm in being honest; it isn't like it's a secret. ]

I've been told about replacement limbs in some detail since arriving, as I have need of one. If someone else has one then that stands out.

Hmm. What limb needs replacing?

[ Ah, the question that clearly starts any good conversation. ]

My left arm. I've got two brothers building one for me now but I suspect it'll get damaged in little time.

That's the problem with prosthetics. If you want it to look passibly human, it damages easily. Synthskin is very delicate. If you want it to be durable, I suppose you could make it entirely of durasteel, though I'm not sure anyone would be interested in such a thing.

Oh?

I'm unconcerned with the appearance; all that matters to me is functionality. If I need to disguise myself for any reason then I can handle that separately.

...Hmm.

What would you like it to do? Besides be a hand, I mean.

Channel extremely high voltages of electricity and function in coordination with my fighting style as well as -- or as close to -- my organic arm as possible.

...Hm. [You know what, he's not gonna ask. That would be rude.] I'm afraid that might be out of my area of expertise. I've made a few repairs, but never built anything like that from scratch. I'm glad you have someone helping you.

[ When people are poking around for really suspicious reasons then you're allowed to be rude. Or just when they're Sasuke and they deserve it. ]

So it seems. Does yours support any special functions, then?

[Special functions...?]

Well, I built in auxiliary parts so it can still function when damaged, and the pain sensors shut off automatically when the synthskin is torn, but... not really?

Pain sensors? [ That catches his interest. ]

Why use them at all? Heat and pressure sensors aren't enough?

[t65]

Pain is a part of feeling. You can't feel things as acutely without those nerve endings. [He shrugs.] Also, it helps to know how badly I've damaged the prosthetic, so I don't keep breaking it worse.

I suppose it'd be a useful motivator. [ That's his own sadomaschostic take on it, however. ]

I should also ask if you've been brought into other realities like this before.
