[Luke Skywalker is sitting pensively in front of one of the wide windows on the Marsiva's Hospitality Deck. Rather than staring out into the darkness of space, he's bent over a tiny silver disk in his hands. It's open, revealing a series of wires, something mechanical and complex. Lacking any proper tools of his own, Luke is replying it with careful fingers and, occasionally, teeth.]

[Lacking any proper supplies, he's forced to improvise. At one point, he removes the glove on his right hand. There's a burn over the back, but the flesh cracks open to reveal more wires and mechanistry. Luke pulls some wires out, breaks them and inserts them into the disk. It seems to cause some of the fingers on his hand to twitch irregularly, but the disk is repaired. He presses a button, and a little blue holograph of a smiling couple appears.]

[He stares at it for a little while.]

[Finally, Luke notices that he's being recorded.] Hello, there. How long have you been on, hm? [He reaches over and turns off the feed.]

[Actually wait. A second later, Luke turns the feed back on.] I suppose if all of this is being recorded, I ought to introduce myself. I'm Luke Skywalker. It's a pleasure to meet you. [His smile kind of... twitches.] All of you.

[She holds up a hand.] The Order as I know it is...not...quite what it was even five years ago. Most of the Council, including the Jedi that truly founded the Order...died a year ago. There are less than twelve Jedi Masters remaining, and we all have to do our part. For the good of the entire Order, and I will serve as needed.

That's what being a Jedi is about, serving the people of the Galaxy.

[So, she was willing, even if she had wanted to decline in favor of, say, the 900 year old space rhyno.]

[He nods.] That, I can understand. How could you begin to rebuild something so monumental? [Is there, like, a secret handshake?]

[Yes.] You start small and avoid risk. Find the people who can help you, and ask them for help. Like you're doing now, I suppose. [She gives the camera a rather knowing look. She's been told of the future of the Order.]

Train anyone with the potential, carefully and under a watchful eye. Seek whatever knowledge you can, and learn from whoever and whatever is willing to teach...but use your best judgment in doing so. If it seems tainted, or of the Dark? Step back, and stay away. You can't risk anything when so much is riding on your shoulders.

[A self deprecating smile.]

At least, that's what I've tried to do.

[He frowns, slightly.]

But, those in darkness... don't they need our help as well?

They do. But that doesn't mean risking your own fall to help them.

[Yes, this sounds oddly...like Yoda.]

Help them, guide them, bring them to the light. Love them. But don't give a micrometer. If they've fallen, then they need to be shown the way, not showing you the way.

Does that make sense?

I know. I'm... not worried about that. [If he came through with his father, in one of the hardest and most harrowing experiences of his life, well, he doesn't think it can get much worse than that. It's not that he's not careful, just no longer afraid.] But I can certainly understand the concern. Thank you, Nomi.

[He smirks.] Should I say Grand Master Nomi?

[That's a good thought. That he's not afraid, that he's not worried. Gives her a little hope, after the shock of finding out things had gone so badly for the Jedi.]

Nomi. I'd prefer not to stand on formality, if we can avoid it. Especially not here.

[She's not Obi-Wan, that old fuddy duddy.]

You don't object to me calling you Luke, I hope. I can refer to you as Knight Errant Skywalker, if you'd prefer, but that's something of a mouthful.

'Knight Errant' does sound rather romantic... But no. I've never been very good at formality anyway. I'm sure my masters despaired of me.

Who were they. Your masters?

Oh, I had two. Obi-Wan Kenobi-- you've probably met him already-- and Master Yoda.

[seaoflight]

I've met Obi-Wan, yes. And heard of Yoda from him. My equivalent in his time?

Grand Master? I'm... Well, I called him 'master'. I'm not sure there's a grand one.

[seaoflight]

I was told that was his role. But then, four thousand years difference...makes that basically hearsay.

[t65]

I might... not be the best person to ask about how Jedi generally operate. [Awkward smile.]

[seaoflight]

Yes, I gather. You're rebuilding the order, or have, according to your niece?

[t65]

My niece seems to be ahead of me. I've not yet begun, last I remember.

[seaoflight]

Fair enough. It sounded like she was the furthest along.

Anyway, enough about all of that. Is there anything I can do to help you? With...here...or something?
