[ Hera is seated at a small cafe on the station today, taking a break from the odd jobs she's been doing to earn money. She's got a cup of something hot at her elbow, and she's her usual composed self. ]

So, to those who don't know me, hi. I'm Hera. [ She gives a little wave. ] You might have seen me around, since I've been on the fleet for a couple of months now. For those who haven't, I just thought I should point a couple of things out, since they've been coming up fairly often when I talk to people.

[ She points at her face. ]

I'm green. This might seem self-evident, but I've actually had a surprising number of people point this out to me, as if I hadn't noticed. So I'm telling you now, I've noticed. I'm green. It's genetics, and skin pigment, and I'm aware. I've also noticed that I'm not human - I'm Twi'lek, actually. And - [ Here she points at the top of her head. ] these are called lekku, but you can call them head-tails if you prefer.

Also, in my culture, it's - rude to stare. I know a lot of you aren't familiar with species other than your own, but it can get a little uncomfortable feeling like you're under a microscope.

I couldn't tell you where Earth is from here either, but not close.

Yeah, I've heard other people here claim they're from a place that's just called "Earth", but I've never heard of a planet called that.

Ryloth is new to me too. So is the empire for that matter. Hard to say if they're all just too far apart for interstellar travel or if it's a different reality where the other doesn't exist.

Yeah, I haven't figured that out yet, either. I mean, when I first got here, I assumed if I found the right ship I'd probably be able to get back to my galaxy, but then people showed up from my galaxy from the future, and the past, so...

It all got a lot less linear. Yeah. I hear you. I was in a place kind of like this before, so I had a head start on it. [It makes some things easier. It also just means she has more people to miss now.]

You're not the first person I've talked to who has. I'm from a big galaxy, but stuff like time still at least has meaning there.

Even back at home there were some people who could travel through time. Reality hopping was known, but not as common. Not that either were every day events. Not like it is here.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that there are things like that in other people's worlds, but it still kind of boggles my mind.

You know, even when you see it in action it kind of boggles. [There's a smile.]

I'm Kitty. I don't think I mentioned that part.

It's nice to meet you, Kitty. And I'm glad to hear it's just as weird to you as it is to me.

At least for this part. No one ever points out what color I am to me. They might say something if I'm walking through walls. [As if she doesn't notice that.]

Yeah, that might seem a little strange, even to me.

Good. Too many people had a version of my power in the last place. [She'd never thought that was important before. Turns out it's kind of annoying when you were used to it being somewhat unique.]

Really? That does seem odd. Was it just a coincidence? Or were these people actually from the same world as you?

Coincidence as far as I could tell. All different worlds, but one of them was another version of me. Same world that Kurt and Rogue are from if you know them.

I know Rogue, yes.

I mean, in my world, people often have similar abilities. Certain species have things they can do, and then there are people in tune with the Force.

The force, huh? I keep hearing about that. There must be a big group from home?

There are several Force-sensitives here, yes.

Are you one of them?

No. Actually, now that I think about it, I might be the only one here from my galaxy who isn't. Now that's strange.

Seems like the Atroma have pretty defined tastes and you got...lucky? Probably not the right word.

It could be worse. Some of the others from my galaxy have it a lot worse.

Do you prefer being here? [It wouldn't be the first time someone had.]

Prefer? No, I wouldn't say that. I have to get home, I have important things to do there. It's not really a matter of preference.

No, I suppose it's not when we don't exactly have a choice in it. Wouldn't mind seeing that change. [Which sounds pretty passive, but she'd like to help effect that change.]
