Blameless gumball wishes and taxicab dreams

[On Today's Episode of Drift Fleet:

The cargo are still full of crates of gumballs! The ships are well booked past capacity! There's a new empty vessel in the fleet- the SS Blameless! Official alerts have informed the passengers that they are signed to contracts that they've never agreed to! They are still docked at the dazzling FS Starlight, but are flat broke (or have they made it big?)

How is the fleet handling these turns of events? Find out in the continuation!

...Meaning, this is a spillover mingle for February's mingle as it's hit recaptcha. Feel free to use this mingle to start new threads, or carry on old threads from the previous mingle!

[ he nods along, easily sliding through the menus as jim pulls them up. ] It certainly is... attractive. Is this how things are in your time? All touch screens and... accessibility. [ howard looks downright hungry as he scrolls. ]

Oh yes. Everything is focused on performance and ease of use for the end user. A program not only has to run beautifully in my era, but it has to look and feel beautiful as well. The easier for an end user the better.

[ He notices the look and he chuckles. ]

Should I leave you and the interface alone for a bit, hmmm?

[ a rare flush climbs up his throat at that like he's been caught out, fingers still hovering over the screen. ]

It isn't that serious. [ it so is tho he wants to make out with it. ]

[ Oh, the other looks good with a flush. He grins at having caught the other in his appreciation of the system, thinking a bit of Scotty. ]

It's okay, I can go find something to amuse myself for a couple minutes.

[ Oh yes, he's going to keep teasing you, Howard. He can't help it, honestly. ]

That won't be necessary. [ it's snippy, shaking his head. jim u are the worst. ] Instead of being smug, do you think you'd like to tell me a little about how this works?

[ He has to get his little pleasures here and there, Howard. ]

Heh, yeah, sure.

[ He launches into a basic explanation of the controls. He's not necessarily a programmer, though he did write the code-virus that altered the Kobayashi Maru and the agent to deliver to it to the system. All right, so he knew a thing or two, but he had his bits of expertise like anyone else. He kept it simple to start anyways - not that he thought Howard wasn't smart and wouldn't understand, but like with any skill you started with the basics and worked your way up to the more advanced stuff. ]

The overall point is to make the program do as much of the work as possible for the end user.
