the word of the day is "paranoia"
Who: Kirito / OTA
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Hiding out in engineering on the Paisley, if you so desire
When: Now!
[So, this is something he's been wondering - and eventually, seriously considering - for the last couple of months, mostly when they landed on Arslae and he realized how ill-equipped he is to deal with conflict. For most people, it would simply be a matter of avoiding fights. But for him... well. It's kind of all he's ever been good for.
Getting told that, hey, one of your crewmates is a murderer is more or less the last straw to break through his indecisive camel back.]
I have a question, mostly for whoever's gotten personal those personal augment upgrades you can buy, or at least thought about it. I'd really like to know- what's it like? Which did you choose? Why would you choose to get one- or why not? I mean, the people offering them up aren't exactly trustworthy, but they all sound pretty useful, too.
Basically, I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons. I'd appreciate the help.

[Honestly, Stefan hasn't paid any attention to the personal upgrades. Which he's starting to regret, now that they're having this conversation.]
Because if you want that, you should get it. You could always pick speed next month.
action
Yeah... if I like it, I'll definitely get it next. And I'll keep training to build my strength the hard way as much as I can. I'd just feel safer if I had... something, at least.
[A bit more, right now. That sense of urgency hasn't been so prominent for a long time- not since SAO.]
action
After all, it's not like I can call up a therapist or knock some of our... more interesting people out of commission.
[If there's a counselor here who was actually a psychologist back home, he hasn't met them yet.]
action
Seriously, that would be nice. I never thought I'd miss counsellors, but it turns out they're actually useful when you have them.
[Sure, it was mandatory, but apparently for good reason.]
action
Let me know what happens, just in case. I'll try to order extra drugs beforehand.
action
[WHAT ARE THESE DRUGS FOR STEFAN he is concerned]
action
[In other words, HE'S A PARANOID PANDA]
action
[Well, now he'll be paranoid about it as well. Not that it's going to change his mind - he's determined, after all - but he'll wonder.]
Whatever. I won't expect it to be too easy, then.
action
It could be like a ship upgrade, and nothing happens, but I don't know enough to tell you.
action
[He is probably way too young to be this cynical, but that's life.]
action
While I'm thinking about it, have you asked Anakin or anyone else about sword lessons? [As much as they've trained together, there's only so much Stefan the fist-fighter can do.]
action
action
[He thinks. He's not exactly an expert when it comes to fighting with more than bare fists.]
I know Ahsoka was offering classes too, so you could ask her next time you're at the gym.
action
[Slowly but surely, he's starting to ease off on all that stress he's been feeling. It won't be gone entirely, but- this helps. It helps a lot, actually.]
Thanks. I guess I wasn't thinking as clearly about it all as I should be.
action
[He'd felt it in Tokyo too, right before he turned. Sure, the timing was convenient, but he wasn't exactly going to face a giant monster without powers.]
Let me know if those plans go through. We can cut back on our stuff, or switch it up a little, or... you know. Whatever works.
action
[He's not about to act ungrateful, after everything.]
action
[Most days, he doesn't even feel 168. Which makes sense, considering memory loss + reincarnation shenanigans, but sometimes, he feels more like a twenty-something than a hundred and sixty-something.]
action
How old are you, anyway?
action
[Stefan gives a shrug as he goes for another cookie.] But I was turned when I was twenty two.
action
[WHAT THE HECK STEFAN that was a bomb of knowledge.]
action
Surprise? [He rubs the back of his neck, not really sure what to do now...] I was turned in... 1864? Something like that.
action
[He's only 17! That many years is practically unfathomable.]
action
I remember bits of my childhood, and pieces here and there. Nothing fully concrete.
action
[Memory problems, always kind of an iffy area. He doesn't want to cause problems for his friends.]
action
[He shrugs, a little helplessly. Sometimes, Stefan thinks, he's better off not remembering.]
