[Guess who just shows up to breakfast one... afternoon? Loki emerges from his office, looking for all the world like a man who has just woken up from an extended nap, barely open eyes, trying to stretch his back and shoulders, the whole nine. He wanders into the kitchen, fumbles around until he makes himself something hot and dark enough that he can pretend it's coffee, and stares suspiciously into the cup before drinking.

Ugh, his mouth tastes like someone glued one of Thor's feet to it. Ugh. What possessed him to sleep like this...

(Guess who has no idea he's been missing for weeks~)]

[A bit later: Broadcast]

[Awake now, and... well, he looks amused. Which is to say as if he's planning on flaying someone alive.]

Why yes, I have returned. Hide all of the party favors, lock up your sons and daughters, cancel the pedestrian fireworks displays.

A funny thing, missing time. You'd never know it was gone until someone tells you. Has anyone else fallen victim to such thievery?

Never. I hate to waste a good surprise. You?

[That gets a soft laugh.] Something to look forward to I guess. Probably shouldn't be giving all mine away for free, but I can tell you I met a kid Loki once.

As have I. It seems the brat gets around.

He is not my larval form. We're two entirely different Lokis.

[Smiling.] That doesn't surprise me. [Is she even capable of surprise with these things anymore?] There was another me at the prison. Actually, I'm pretty sure that me was Rogue's actual Kitty. Guess the Atroma grabbed the wrong one.

I find it fascinating, how they are able to pull from such a myriad of parallel universes. I should like to tear the maths behind that apart.

Yeah? You're a big fan of algorithms? [It piques her curiosity a bit. She can be a little nerdy for knowledge.]

Maths are the language of reality. The fundamental particle of all magics.

You had me at math and lost me at magic. [Not that she doesn't believe magic exists. She's known witches and seen it in action.]

Magic is its own science. [Shrug.]

That's an interesting way to put it. [As in you have her attention.] What kind of magic do you do?

Several sorts.

My favorite is the manipulation of light, however.

One of my teammates manipulates light. It can be impressive. [Though she doesn't assume Dazzler and Loki do it in the same ways.]

Impressive, subtle, and many things in between. Light is but one sort of electromagnetic radiation, after all.

Not to mention deadly.

[complicatedliar]

Deadly is really the least of it. That is what daggers are for.

Daggers, hm? So what do you do with the light?

[complicatedliar]

Anything I can imagine. [He grins.] The limit upon magics is rarely that of power, but of creativity.

[passingthrough]

Okay, but practically speaking? What's the typical end game to the creativity?

[complicatedliar]

Whatever I need it to be at the time. [He might be a little obtuse on purpose, but he's actually not even certain what she's asking. Magic is a tool used to solve many problems. There's no single answer.]

[She doesn't exactly know what she's aiming for either. But if he doesn't use it for fighting then she's not sure what he is using it for. Sure, she uses her own powers regularly. They come naturally and getting from point A to point B is a lot easier with them. She's not sure she sees the same direct path for light manipulation.

There's also the things Rogue mentioned about his questionable past. She didn't go into any kind of real detail, but it left Kitty wondering and fishing. But he's important to Rogue, so she won't sink her hooks too deep.]

Makes sense. [Vague, but who could disagree with it?] I'd be curious to see it sometime. [But she doesn't ask for a demonstration. She's usually happy enough if people are accepting of her powers, but then they get too eager and start asking for demonstrations she can start feeling a little like a sideshow.]

[complicatedliar]

[Of course he uses it a lot when fighting. But he's not the sort to just give away his advantages for free. Especially not to someone that might well one day be hunting for him if things go poorly.]

I'm always pleased to construct an illusion or two. I enjoy doing magics.

Something to look forward to. Especially since double dates are out with my current single status. [She smiles. It must be a joke because it sounds too normal to be anything else.]

I'm certain you could cure that if you wished. [He might be teasing.] Perhaps I ought to introduce you to Kirito. [Might be good for a laugh.]

I'm sure I could too. But I've got an impressive streak of bad endings going so I have to be careful with my pick. Wouldn't want to mess that up.
