[Guess who just shows up to breakfast one... afternoon? Loki emerges from his office, looking for all the world like a man who has just woken up from an extended nap, barely open eyes, trying to stretch his back and shoulders, the whole nine. He wanders into the kitchen, fumbles around until he makes himself something hot and dark enough that he can pretend it's coffee, and stares suspiciously into the cup before drinking.

Ugh, his mouth tastes like someone glued one of Thor's feet to it. Ugh. What possessed him to sleep like this...

(Guess who has no idea he's been missing for weeks~)]

[A bit later: Broadcast]

[Awake now, and... well, he looks amused. Which is to say as if he's planning on flaying someone alive.]

Why yes, I have returned. Hide all of the party favors, lock up your sons and daughters, cancel the pedestrian fireworks displays.

A funny thing, missing time. You'd never know it was gone until someone tells you. Has anyone else fallen victim to such thievery?

Not so sure about "often". I've been here for over six months and this is the first I've heard of it.

Do you know Allen Walker? Out of everyone I know, I think he's been here the longest. He could probably tell you more. Or you could ask Stefan, he knows a lot about this place too.

[If Kirito disagreed with him, at least he could have the comfort of someone to browbeat. The kindness seems worse, somehow. Loki scrubs his face with one hand.]

We have real coffee? That would be lovely. [Not even that grudging.]

We got some in the last kitchen update. We only get a weekly ration, though, so it's hard to make it last.

[He was going to brew some anyway, so he'll just go put a pot on now.]

If you want some food, too, I'm making lunch. Just as easy to make enough for two.

[He hasn't frequented the kitchen often to begin with, while being a hermit in his office. Did this happen before or after he disappeared.]

Ah. How quickly has it been running out?

[Huh. He wasn't expecting that. But he's feeling rough enough that it actually sounds... nice. Weirdly. What is his life even.]

[Well, colour him surprised; he'd expected Loki to take the coffee and bail, or something equally antisocial. He knows better than to draw attention to it, at least, so he merely shrugs his shoulders and tosses some extra protein and flavouring into the mixture.]

You like beef and rice? We've got enough flavours here now to make a pretty decent stir fry.

I don't really mind. I... am not all that interested in food for the most part. [But he appreciates not having to make it for himself, that's for certain.]

Do gods not have to eat?

[Only halfway said in jest. He's still undecided on whether or not he believes that stuff, but he does live with wizards and vampires, soooo.]

I do eat, now and again. Some of the Asgardians eat mightily. [Volstagg. Oy.] We just don't require so much. Or perhaps I do not.

[He rubs his face with one hand.] I've just never found it all that interesting. One eats food when it is necessary, that is all.

Here, have some coffee. The perfect feel good medicine. It's not even that bad of a brew, considering the food they get here.]

I can't imagine that. Even if I didn't have to eat, I would- when the food is good, it's hard to resist.

[He accepts the coffee with outer appreciation and gratitude. Because coffee is very important.]

A hobby for you, perhaps. You eat food, I consume books.

Not literally, I assume.

[Okay, definitely in jest that time.]

You must be really feeling the lack of books here, then.

[He laughs.] Perhaps I absorb them like an amoeba.

Nothing quite feels the same as a heft of a book in one's hands. [Though the books of Asgard are far beyond the static mortal volumes, there's the common feel of them.] I haven't been all that satisfied with the information available to us besides.

Yeah, I'm a child of the modern era, and the world's gone green. Magazines were about the only hard-copy reading materials I owned.

[Oh, wait a minute-]

Hey, since you've been gone, does that mean you haven't been to the station yet?

Magazines... [Trying to recall what those are. They don't quite have things like that in Asgard.]

What station?

Yeah, it's called the Starlight. We've been docked or floating around it for a while. It's kind of like a big city.

Stations ought to be.

Anything of interest upon the station?

It's mostly shops and entertainment, to be honest, but the reason I brought it up is that you'd probably like the datery. A lot of the content is digital, but it's a library in all but name. Tons of books from all over the place.

[That does catch his attention.]

Oh yes, I would like that very much. I've been very disappointed by the information available to us otherwise. [Well, now he knows where he's going to be spending all of his time.]

You'll definitely like it, then. I'd need another lifetime to read every book in there, for sure.

[Food's done! Here, have some quasi-synthetic beef stir fry. Not the most glorious of meals, but it tastes alright.]

Probably more than one lifetime unless you read very quickly.

[Distracted by the food, Loki starts picking through it as is his habit, looking for the interesting bits.] My thanks for this. [Mom did raise him right, and sometimes he even remembers.]

[He's a man of action - or an idiot peasant, depending on who you talk to. His reading skills are very selective about content.]

You're welcome for the food. Speaking of, um- I'm fine with it, but just FYI, don't feel obligated to eat with me. I won't be offended.

[From what he's seen of Loki, he has an obscene amount of pride and confidence, like, all the time. It feels wrong to coerce him into interacting in a moment of unsettled weakness.

Not that he's complaining, of course - it's interesting conversation. But as a fellow loner, the offered escape route is practically an obligation.]
