[Luke narrows his eyes. Did this guy just Yoda him?]

[Well, you win this round, cigarman. Luke chuckles to himself and shakes his head.]

Then I won't bother you for much longer. I just wanted to introduce myself to the crew. [He holds out one gloved hand for a shake.] I'm Luke Skywalker.

[He switches cigar hands and twists around to meet that handshake. His grip is strong and firm. The name twinges on the familiar for him, but given that he's basically too cool to remember geek stuff like this, he doesn't make any connection.]

Logan. Nice of ya not to speed off like ya did before.

[Luke's handshake is similarly firm, but nowhere near Logan's, let's be real, here. He nods, quietly taking Logan's criticism.]

Yes, I'm sorry about that. There was a... [Luke's tone gets about as dry as it ever does, hovering just at the edge of (gasp) long-suffering,] ...family emergency. [And then he returns to the cheerfully somber tone of before,] I usually try not to rush off like that.

[Family emergency? Here? Now that was a situation he didn't much envy.]

This ain't exactly the place for a family vacation. Ought to have left them at home.

[Did Luke just roll his eyes? Manners! What would Beru say?]

I didn't have much of a choice in the matter, I'm afraid.

Mm. Never do. [As if Laura or Daken would ever give him a choice in the matter of just about anything.] So you're the what... captain, right?

[He was looking at one of the manifests now. It did indeed read Luke as the captain.]

Oh! Yes. [The reason he came in here in the first place.] I've been made captain, yes. Though... a young girl on the ship has also declared herself captain.

[Wow, that sounds weird to say out loud. He shakes his head and continues.] To keep the matter from deteriorating, I convinced her to submit to a vote in a week's time. You should meet her, and decide who you think would make a better captain.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

Ya put yer captaincy up to a vote? [He's all fine and good with democracy and fairness, but this just don't look like the kind of thing that's going to end well. Ending up with some kid girl for a captain because nobody wants to make her cry is not going to end well.]

This is hardly a military fleet, Logan. [Luke looks out over the cockpit.] If she wins, I still intend to do my best by the crew. It isn't as though rank means much to anyone but her. [Hm. Actually...] Does it? Logan, what do you think?

[Because, in the end, captain or no, Luke considers these people his crew. He wants to know what they think of things, first and foremost. That is, to him, what makes a good leader, with or without rank.]

I ain't exactly known followin' orders all that well. Ain't much interested in flying this boat either. [He takes a drag on the cigar, before huffing out some smoke again.] Don't really matter to me who the captain is. Prolly ain't gonna listen to either one of ya.

[Blunt, but honest. He follows those that have his respect. Unless he gets on a ship with Steve Rogers, then chances are there's not gonna be much of anyone whose going to have Logan taking orders, whether appointed by a vote or by the Atroma.]

[Luke smiles in earnest. Honesty, however blunt, is always a virtue in Luke's eyes.] Exactly. If I have a good suggestion, I hope you consider it. If I have a bad one, I hope you won't. Really, I just hope this will teach her the importance of earning things. On her planet, she seems to have been appointed by divine rule.

[A little roll of Luke's eyes tells you just what he thinks about that.]

[Divine rule, huh? That don't even sound all that strange to him. After all, he's worked with Thor before.]

Sounds like she's a real peach to be around. An' that's her ticket to command, huh?

Yes, a... peach. [What are peaches.] That's what she told me. From what I've seen, she'll act like she's in charge regardless.

[Luke shrugs. If this were a military vessel where command was important and organization was key? Luke would be more worried. But after years of working with a paramilitary organization, worrying about who captains what essentially amounts to a cruise ship is a low priority.]

[He gives an impassive shrug.]

Long as she don't make no trouble, she can act any way she pleases. [But then there's a whole lot of indifference right here. Logan isn't much interested in being part of some friendly get-along crew.] So did the Atroma give you a useful augment?

[He's not impressed with his own. But then, he doesn't like the idea of having one at all. It's kind of amazing he hasn't taken his out yet.]

Of course. [Luke says. He doesn't, for himself, really care what sort of crew this shapes up to be, so long as things can stay civil and peaceful.]

[Hilarious!]

[He considers Logan's question about augments.] Not really. At least, it wasn't anything I couldn't already do. I guess I understand lithium-synaptic feed charges better now... [He shrugs.] Which augment were you given?

[Logan gave a vague gesture to one of the cleaning droids that had taken to nesting beneath his seat.]

Maintenance. [There is nothing that isn't bitter in that.] Atroma seem to think I'm only fit for janitor duty.

[Luke can't help but smile.] At least you don't have to do the cleaning. [He leans down to inspect the little droid.] Do to know what model it is, or are you from a system without this sort of technology?

This kinda shit ain't foreign to me, but I ain't figured out how to work a DVR yet. What does its model matter?

[It's a robot. It moves around. It's probably slightly more useful than a Roomba.]

[What's a DVR, Logan.]

What you can do with it. If it has AI, or whether it interfaces with the ship. It might be able to talk to the Blameless. [He looks up at Logan with brightly evident curiosity.] Have you noticed it plugging itself into the ship?

[Logan doesn't answer. He just shoots Luke a look as if he was questioning whether Luke was somehow unaware of the type of person he was talking to. Of course he hadn't noticed the droids doing anything, aside from getting under his feet at inopportune times.]

[Luke is not yet fluent in Logan. The look he gives in return is deeply perplexed.]

Um...?

[He groans.]

No. I ain't seen them do any of that.

[Luke shrugs, unoffended.] They could be communicating with the ship, which certainly communicates with the Marsiva. They could be sending status reports, they could even have surveillance capabilities. The model matters. [He stands up.] But I've never seen that model before. I'll look into it.

[It's the least he can do.]

Just try not to break 'em. I ain't attached to 'em, but I'd just as soon not be on toilet duty if they're handlin' it.

Oh, I wouldn't break them. The models I'm used to are much more complex than cleaning droids. I don't even think these have AI programming... [Someone's nerding out, over here.] But- thank you. And it was nice to meet you, Logan.
