[ Haruka has been spending most of her time off the ship just in case something's up with those crates. So this is the first time one might have seen her heading down the hallway in a while.

She's got her hands tucked in her pockets and her mind a mile away, so pardon her when her elbow bumps against you. ] Ah, yo. Sorry.

[ A sheepish smile and she's on her way, but a folded piece of paper has drifted out of her pocket to land on the floor behind her....

Do you pick it up? Do you open it? ]

Don't worry about it.

[Yes and of course not, obviously. Reading other people's notes is a terrible way to get to know them--when you're packed into a very small ship, anyway. Sometimes necessary, never diplomatic.

Leia turns back the way she came, reaching out to touch the other person's arm.]

I think you dropped this.

[Leia's been doing a lot of odd jobs over the last few weeks--she's a little ombudsmanned out at this point--but eventually, her attention turns to the Bishop. It's her new ship, and it's a well-appointed one, relatively speaking.

She'll be all over the place, including...

• In the kitchen, looking at all the food options. "How is it?" she asks, holding up a package labeled POWDERED EGG SUBSTITUTE. "We didn't have this much variety on the Windrose."
• On the bridge, encrypting your messages. Or her messages. Or maybe just testing the equipment.
• In front of the full-length mirror in the bathroom, braiding her hair into something elaborate and swearing when a hairpin falls from her hands at a crucial, this-is-going-to-fall-apart-if-I-hunt-around-for-a-hairpin kind of moment. "Sorry--could you hand me that?"
• In the armory or rec area, taking a look at her ~standard sidearm~. "I wonder if we could set up targets for practice in here."
• She also just plain might come up to you in a corridor and hold out a hand to shake, because getting to know your crewmates is important. "I'm Leia Organa. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Or whatever else you can think of.]

[OOC: Technically Leia switched over to the Bishop way back on February 7th, but she hasn't met most of the crew yet! So we can either backdate or just assume she's been busy making cash or w/e. up 2 u.]

[ When Haruka turns and sees what the other woman's holding out - a new face, huh? This is a popular place - what might be nervousness crosses her own expression for a second. Then it smooths out into an apologetic good nature. ] ...Right. Thanks.

[ She'll take that, hoping to change the subject in the process. ] New transfer?

That's right. I'm Leia Organa.

[She gives her a pleasant smile. There's always time to meet your crewmates--though she's not sure what to make of that split second of hesitance.]

I'll be doing communications. It's nice to meet you.

[ Said nervousness has apparently completely evaporated by this point. Haruka is never sure whether people are from worlds where shaking hands happens, but she offers hers all the same. ] Haruka Tenoh. Second pilot.

I'll be counting on you, Officer. [ Especially since a pilot is pretty useless while docked at a space station! She couldn't even take their fun new engineer for a ride. ]

[Jaina doesn't braid her hair as often as her mother, but she absolutely admires it when Leia does it. So she's glad Leia doesn't shoo her away and lets her watch. Even better when she asks her to grab a hairpin for her. It's helping.

She's also got that Solo grin plastered on her face because mom said a word, but she's not going to comment on it.]

Is this going to be a new style?

[It's a custom Leia knows, and she shakes Haruka's hand firmly.]

We don't need to stand on ceremony--'Leia' is fine. [Unless it turns out Haruka is another person who gets a little lost without titles, but if that's the case, they can adjust from here.] What do you think of the Bishop?

[Mom did say a word--she's used to censoring herself in general, but not specifically for the sake of her offspring. It's the last thing on her mind as she shoves the pin into the mass of hair she's trying to keep in place.]

That depends on whether it stays up all day.

[She gives Jaina a little smile through the mirror's reflection. Ah, the perils of coming up with new things to do with one's hair.]

Do you always wear your hair down?

[Considering she also loves tinkering with her dad, Jaina's probably heard more than she should admit. She shakes her head for the question, and settles down nearby.]

Usually, but not always. Sometimes there's something we need to look good for, and then Threepio's going to fuss with everything until it's perfect.

Tenel Ka braids hers more often, but there's reasons.

[Her friend's pride in her Dathomiri warrior heritage, for one; branching off that, being more physically active might be another.]

[Leia might be tactful enough not to read the note, but Jaina may be leaning and trying to get a glimpse at what it is. What are boundaries and staying out of other people's business?]

[From an ex-smuggler, that kind of language is understandable. From a princess, it's a little more raw than is technically supposed to be appropriate.]

We could do something with it, if you liked. It wouldn't be hard.

Is Tenel Ka a friend of yours?

[ Haruka shrugs. ] It's colorful.

[ Between the small horse throwing parties and all of the uh. Aesthetic modifications the captain has made to the ship.

But okay, serious answer to serious question. About which she needs more information. ] The crew or the hardware?

[ Who knows?

This piece of paper has apparently been printed from a computer terminal in the station, and is of a Wanted poster. Two robot-sketched likenesses grace the announcement, which explains the following individuals broke into Security HQ and are wanted for questioning. They are also apparently armed with unusual weaponry, so approach with caution.

One of those people does bear a passing resemblance to Haruka, but the sketch has her wearing a tiara, so that's impossible, right?

Haruka turns when she senses Jaina isn't still moving. ] Did you need--

Either.

[Besides Jaina, she doesn't know anyone aboard especially well--and when it comes down to it, she can't say she knows Jaina as well as she'd like, either. Hearing others' opinions on crew and quarters alike is useful, if only to get to know them a little more.]

[Jaina hesitates, head tilted and mouth a touch open while she tries to decide what to say. It'd look nice, but it'd mean time and effort taking care of it later, too, and she'd feel bad if she messed it up. Just keeping it straight has its inconveniences, too, but they're inconviences she's accepted.

But it would look nice, and more importantly, it's Leia offering to do something with her. She finally nods her agreement.]

She is. Tenel Ka's another one of Uncle Luke's students. Her mom is from Dathomir, and her dad's from the Hapes Consortium.

She's pretty great. Somehow she even puts up with Jacen's jokes.

[A few more hairpins, and Leia's work is done--at least on her own hair. And if it holds up to her usual work, maybe it'll go into regular rotation.

Now for Jaina. Leia grabs her brush and carefully starts at the ends of her daughter's hair. Without knowing how many snarls she's going to run into--and knowing just how messy her own hair could get when she was that age--she wants to take things gently.]

That's impressive. [From what Jaina's said about them, anyway.] How many students does Luke have in his academy?

[ Haruka thinks. ] They're all good people. I can't say I've flown [ any ] many spaceships before, but when we're allowed control, it handles well.

[ What else. Hm. Oh, a practical function of both the ship and its crew: ] The chef uses magic.

[Erk. Nightingale does spend a fair amount of time in the kitchen now, but even she winces when she sees what Leia's holding.]

You, ah, probably don't want to try that stuff. Let's just say variety doesn't make any of it good.

Better or worse than rations?

[She's no stranger to lousy food, and the simple fact of the matter is that they'll be in space plenty in the future. Better to figure out now what's worth trying, while they still have access to the station's shopping.]

That's good to hear. Everyone's seemed decent so far. [Present company included, naturally.]

[Her brows raise a little at that detail.] Magic? What kind of magic are we talking about?

I'm pretty sure they're just plain not fit for consumption. If you're hungry, I keep a lot of actually fresh ingredients on me, so I can make you something.

[That said, her clothing is a damn magical girl dress without any pockets, and it doesn't look like she's carrying anything, so where exactly she carries them 'on her' is a mystery.]

[If you're wandering around in the ship's hallways, you'll at some point run across an interesting sight: A flying fox. Not one of the bats that's just called that, but an actual fox floating along at about head-height through the hallways.

Nightingale walking past behind it probably explains a lot. Or absolutely nothing. One of those. Either way, the fox is going to be making scrabbling motions in the air to try to latch onto anyone who walks past.]

[ lioriley has been surprisingly absent from the bishop for most of the month. with the crazy amount of temporary jobs she's taken (as well as the more permanent one in the space bar), she's usually out and about the station more than wandering the ship like she normally would be. but, she does manage to stay aboard long enough to leave a gift for each of her crewmates (even the new ones!) in their bunks, along with a short note:

Dear (name),
Thank you so much for welcoming me so readily aboard the Bishop.
Here is a token of my appreciation, and I apologize for not being able to give you more.
If there is anything you should ever need from me however, do not hesitate to find me.
