one ; he's a transponster!
Who: Merrill & Fenris
Broadcast: {video} Fleet-Wide
Action: Anywhere on the Marsiva (they may split up we'll see).
When: January 14th
{VIDEO} ;
[ The video switches on to reveal— well okay it's an arm, covered in leather, chainmail and white fur, but only because the communicator's taking a moment to get pulled back, and only because there's more than one person trying to use it.
Or more than one elf, with pointed ears and both faces intricately covered in tattoos as the biggest clue. Merrill's markings are as dark as her short, braided hair and Fenris's are as light as his (there might even be a glow). Contrarily, perhaps, she looks much more cheerful in her greeting, but there is still a level of heightened stress to her tone. ]
Yes, hello! It seems we landed in the wrong time. World, actually! Now you promised, since the war's over. Can we speak to somebody in the Initiative? Where are our— Um—
[Merrill doesn't get to finish her sentence, as Fenris wrests control of the communicator from her. He looks decidedly less friendly, in fact, he looks just about ready to punch someone in the face. Hard.]
Our weapons. They are missing. [He jabs an annoyed thumb in Merrill's direction, whose irritated sigh can be heard off-camera.] I understand she likely disrupted the transporter. Just open up another one and send us back to Kirkwall. Now. I have no intention of staying on your blighted moon again. [A pause, a disdainful look around.] Or wherever this is...
[Actually, this looks distinctly non-Initiative. And it's definitely not United Earth, either, he remembers their holding pens, and this is not them. Where the heck ARE they? He doesn't have long to ponder or even let someone answer before there's another sound from Merrill off-camera; a gasp.]
There's something on you! Hold still.
What? What is- NO! Don't you touch me. [He may tolerate you existing in his life now, Merrill, but that doesn't mean you're allowed to touch him with your magey hands. He turns around a couple of times, trying to find...whatever it is on him, his hands tapping around his back until...oh he has a thing on his neck. WHY DOES HE HAVE A THING ON HIS NECK??
His fingers close on it, and he tries to yank it off. If you ever wondered what would happen if you tried to take your Augment off, wonder no more. Fenris gives a pained, frightened yelp, then curls into a horrible, shuddering ball on the floor, muttering horribly in Tevene. He's somewhere in the horrible recesses of his own broken mind right now, don't mind him.
Off-camera: ]
All right, I won't touch you.

She completely ignores him. HAND-TO-THE-FACE. ]
A show? People keep saying that word. I don't see anybody else around, though! Do you mean with these?
[ She holds the communicator over Fenris's shoulder. ]
They watch us through this? Can't we just destroy the tablets?
[ She means 'communicator' but she did get used to Exsilium lingo. ]
no subject
He is right here and can hear you and why in the world would I possess her? I'm not a possessor demon or anything else that's capable of it.
[He'll just sigh and shake his head because idiot.]
Not just those. They have cameras all over the place to watch us so they don't miss a single second. So destroying the communicators won't do us any good and it's not worth the effort.
no subject
That is what demons do. They possess mages like her, [a jerk of his head to the elf behind him] who are too weak to resit them.
[Maker, he wishes he had his sword. Demons don't exactly have organs he can crush.]
There. You have spoken to one another. Now go back to the Fade where you belong. You will find no prey here.
no subject
[ If his armor wasn't likely to stab her at the attempt, and she was a lesser person, she'd shove him right now. Excuse you sir. ...Oh well moving on, she's quite used to it! ]
Forgive him, he's positive all demons always have poor intentions.
[ Merill understands they are very dangerous. She also understands they don't (always) have to be, so long as she isn't foolish enough to let her guard down around one.
Besides, he's offering information. Is he like... Justice? Anders? Merrill steps around Fenris to try and get a closer look. ]
It sounds to me what you're saying is...we were brought here for people to watch? Like theatre? There isn't a bigger purpose?
no subject
Most demons do, but I'm not most demons. I've dealt with worse than the angry glowstick over there. He hasn't even tried to vanquish me yet.
[Cole is definitely dangerous, but only to people who are evil and not so much towards the good guys. And since he's squeezed the fun out of Belthazor, he shifts back to his human form without missing a beat.]
That's exactly what I'm saying. We get assigned to different ships, live on them and do whatever. All for the amusement of some group of people out there. Long distance theatre without the fun part of it ending after a couple of hours.
no subject
If you would like me to do so, I will have no problem with that.
[His tattoos glow brighter, and he steps closer, his eyes only narrowing as Cole switches forms. ]
So you have already possessed someone. Wonderful. I have seen enough.
[He hasn't paid any attention to what Cole has said, and now he's just lurching forward. He doesn't know how much damage he can do to a demon with just his lyrium, but he is very okay with learning.]
no subject
No!
[ The demon is giving them answers! Merrill starts forward, ducking and sliding underneath Fenris's outstretched arm so that she can hop up between them. Immediately a force-field is sent out around her, a shimmering hue of energy that will send a kinetic force to knock the both of them away.
Not intentionally directed towards Cole, but it is an area attack, and better he get hit with that than Fenris's 'glowstick' hands. ]
Stop, he's not our enemy!
no subject
That might be how things work where you're from, but not where I'm from. Demons don't need to possess what you call mages. They just kill them and steal their powers. I'm only half-demon, so the body you think I've possessed? It's actually me.
[Now that he knows that Fenris would be willing to actually go ahead with attacking him, he's actually going to pay attention to him. He tilts his head towards Merrill though in acknowledgement.]
Thanks for the save.
no subject
Demon or half-demon, he is still an abomination. That does not make him an ally, Merrill. Do not be a fool about this.
no subject
[ Attacking their most tangible source of information, and without their weapons, by the Creators. They may not need them to fight, but they help immensely, especially as they don't know what Cole is capable of. He doesn't seem the least bit worried by this confrontation, but that is rather standard for demons.
But her attention whips back around to Cole, one arm also extended in his direction. That hand sparks a touch, as her sweet smile from earlier is completely gone, and her voice is much colder as it echoes in the otherwise empty hall. ]
Do not misunderstand! I will destroy you before I allow you to harm him. Half anything does not make you less dangerous, if anything you've only given me more reason to be against you. It would be foolish for us to fight, however. That won't free us from the ship, unless your wish is to learn how to breathe among the stars, Fenris.
no subject
I know exactly how dangerous I am, but dangerous doesn't mean I'm a threat. I kill demons and I protect my family and since neither of you are demons nor a threat to my family, then I have no problems with you.
[He pulls a hand out from his pocket and summons an energy ball that he tosses up into the air a couple times like it's a regular ball instead of a dangerous ball of energy.]
If either of you attack me without provocation, I will defend myself. I will keep myself away from both of you if you want me to. I have no desire to hang around people I don't know if they call me an abomination nor do I want to die again.
no subject
Why should we take a chance? It will kill us regardless, if we leave it be. It will only be a matter of time.
[He is not relaxing, not even a little bit. He wants to go full lyrium ghost and see if he can tear this creature apart from the inside. He is certain the creature can't throw magic at something intangible.] This is not safe, Merrill.
no subject
We've never been safe. But it would be more dangerous to fight here in such an enclosed space. The systems could get scrambled and we would lose light and oxygen, or you could accidentally land outside when shifting and then you would really have no air.
[ Looking back to Cole, it's easier to have a frowny face. She wishes to negotiate with demons, but currently all he's doing is pissing off Fenris every time he shows off his magic or talks about himself. She won't say this, since demons like to aggravate. ]
I don't wish to attack you. I only want answers, and I know that you were offering them. Can you tell me what you are, if not an abomination?
[ He said 'half-demon' but she doesn't remotely see it the way he does. She does see an abomination, as that's simply what it's called when a demon possesses a mage. That's all she sees right now. What other 'half-demon' is there? ]
no subject
And I'm willing to give you whatever answers I have as long as both of you can stay civil.
[But he'll grin and laugh and act like the previous couple minutes didn't happen.]
I'm half-demon and half-human. My father was human and my mother's a demon. It's not too uncommon. Some of the more obvious looking demons will have children with humans so they can blend in better with the mortals and strike at witches so they're less likely to get caught.
no subject
Fine.
[Fenris knows she speaks sense, and with the ball dissipated, his glow lessens somewhat. He is still not happy, though, and will have nothing to do with speaking to the creature. He won't leave Merrill, either. She has her magic, yes, but demons and mages are not a good mix.
So unable to do much else, he paces around behind the the other elf like a caged animal, needing to get rid of this coiled, angry energy somehow. He listens, of course, but he says nothing. He doesn't care. This just screams of the games the Magisters play against one another and he loathes it.]
no subject
But she much prefers this route, and she clasps her hands together tensely while trying to listen. ]
I don't understand. Your mother was a demon, but how did she...? How could she have mated with a human? Did she use the Fade somehow? Use dreams to break the Veil?
[ Oh noooo, Merrill's thoughts are going down dark, horrible, gross corridors! Ewwww, she thoughts demons couldn't get more dangerous! But even if a demon tried to use the Fade to possess someone long enough to impregnate them, Merrill can only imagine that working on a human woman. How would... How would a human male... ]
Did your father give birth?!
[ Well, at least people believed Merrill had a sensible head on her shoulders for all of two minutes. ]
no subject
What?! No! My dad didn't give birth to me!
[omg Merrill, he's not a mpreg baby that's terrible and wrong and now Cole cannot unsee it.]
Men can't have children. Where did you even get that from?
no subject
Still, it seems to have made the abomination upset, so he snorts out a laugh. ]
no subject
[ It's her only defense, but it could be a worse one. She's not wrong. Except about the mpreg, apparently, but she's glad for that. How awkward. ]
Well, it doesn't matter. It means as much to us as a half-elf might. [ WHICH MEANS NOTHING AND IS A JOKE AT THE EXPENSE OF ELVES. ] Still, if you are a demon who means us no harm, I think it would be best for us to get along. I'd very much appreciate it if you continue to not try and kill me to take my magic. It would be so very unpleasant, for the both of us I imagine!
[ She's saying this with a surprising kindness and curiosity, and it's sincere, too. Relationships with demons are meant to be complicated and careful. So are relationships with Fenris.
She looks over her shoulder at him. Laughing at her. ]
Besides, you made Fenris smile, so you can't be all bad.
no subject
You don't need to worry about me coming after you. I don't attack innocents, I protect them. Not that it looks like you need protection.
[And he just grins some more.]
I'm not such a bad guy once you get to know me, but I think I'll keep my distance from now on, if that's okay with you. I don't think I need to upset the angry glowstick more than he already is.
no subject
[He makes a disgusted sound and moves to lean on a wall, his arms folded, still glowering.]
Do as you like, I will have nothing to do with it.
[He'll just wait 'til he's not in space and kill the blighted thing.]
no subject
That might be best. He gets so very cranky around demons and mages, it's not personal! Really.
