Who: Lydia Martin + you
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action:
When: March 1

What do you know about magic?
Does it exist in your world, or did you learn about it here (or in another world)?
If it exists in your world how do people get magic? Are they born with it or does something give them it? What can they do with it?
I didn't have magic at home. There were druids, but it wasn't the same.
I know that other worlds have different rules. In Asgard your abilities were nullified but the gods gave you magic. Which I still have here.
Is there a rule here for magic? Do your other abilities still exist? Has anyone been given a new power here?
It could have just been Asgard, but I'd rather make sure nothing else will happen here unexpectedly. At least about this.

magic exists in my world, though not all possess it. mages are born as such. with proper training, they can cast a number of spells and communicate with the spirits in the Fade. as for this place, i am not entirely certain if and how atroma limits our powers. those brought here still have their abilities from what i can tell, but i do not know if they are curtailed or not.

do you know how you were given these abilities? perhaps they have become permanent.

as i know of from my world, no. but there are a few whose abilities are somewhat similar to the mages from my world.

1. It is awesome. In theory. As a literary device it's kind of hit or miss, even if I personally think it catches a lot more flack than it deserves.

2. Yes, in the twinkle in the eye of every child and in the song of every wait wait wait, did you mean literally? Yeah. No. Not even a little bit.

3 onward, no idea. We get some sort of freaky The Matrix knowledge update here (no kung fu, which I call shenanigans on), but I doubt that's magical. I guess if you really want to pretend you can levitate you can turn off the gravity or something.

p.s. What are these non-magical 'other abilities'? It seems to me that anything superhuman would fall under the purview of 'magic' in one way or another, right?

I grew up with a Loki and Thor, so to speak. But I imagine that's not the Asgard you are referring to. Last I checked, they did not allow just anyone to enter their pearly gates.

It depends on what your definition is!

I don't know much about magic-magic. But I know plenty about the Force, which some people *believe* is magic? Even though it totally isn't.

we have magic where i come from. only a few people have it & they are born with it though it doesn't manifest for a while. most of the mages i know either set things on fire, freeze things or heal people.

don't know about magic here, i'm not a mage. i can fight mages though! as far as i know i still have those abilities but i haven't tried them here because no reason to.

We've got magic where I come from, but it's a very recent development. It's also very limited compared to what I've seen in other people here, and other places like this.

I guess you can "apply" to get some magical powers through your augment, but I've never tried it. I'll put up with a lot of weird shit, but that seems like a pointedly bad idea.

If you really want new powers, you can purchase an upgrade. I wouldn't recommend it unless you want it, but the option's always there.

As for magic, I don't know much. It existed in my world, it's genetic, and the limits are almost endless. Since I'm not a wizard or warlock, that's also all I know.

People are born with magic in my world. If you have non-magical parents you find out when you're eleven, but there are normally a lot of clues before then. I was given more magic in the world I was in before this one, but I didn't get to keep it all here - I don't think they wanted too much power in any single pair of hands.

[He could have followed suit, but frankly, this was a topic on which he had far too much to say and texting was far too new and unwielding a tool for him to use to convey it. Besides, he assumed it was for the sake of her own anonymity but when it came to magic, Felix was anything but shy. Not about one of the few things about him that he felt ever really mattered]

I know quite a bit about it. At least as much as any simple mortal might begin to, over years of observation and study. At the simplest of levels, magic is merely energy - energy that exists within a person or the world around them - and then channeled through various forms. Words, gestures, objects, or simply thought.

Magic was moderately common in my own world, and like many the ability to use it is passed through blood. Wizards, like myself, are usually the result of two wizard parents, though it can appear anomalously from time to time, like curly hair.

I do in fact still have access to my magic, though I haven't noticed any change in them or had much cause to investigate that fact. I imagine you can expect much of the same.
