[ hi, first breath!

kate isn't part of your crew. but she's a hawkeye, so she's here to find clint barton. only it seems she's stopped by during one of the many hours he's not aboard but is instead on the station below -- still, doesn't mean she can't make herself at home. right? besides, her ship has been a little heated of late.

so you might find her bumming around in clint's room at first. or perhaps raiding your kitchen. at the very least, she's gonna check out some of the upgraded facilities with a bit of envy. the blameless, by comparison, is bog standard. ]

[ Nova walks into the kitchen in her pjs and stops when she sees Kate ]

Kate? Hey...

[ what are you doing here ]

[ she's got her fingers in all sorts of containers, cupboards, and drawers. she's looking for something. ]

Hey! [ small smile, and she whirls around on her heel to better greet nova. ] Have you seen Barton?

Not between my room and the kitchen.

Can I help you find something?

[ why are you touching all of our stuff ]

[ she's got the decency to look at least a little sheepish: ] Have you got coffee?

Yeah. It's behind the rice in the pantry.

[ proceeds to fill up a glass with water and sit at the table ]

Don't you have coffee on your ship?

I'm on the new one, now. The Blameless. [ she takes the directions as an invite to help herself -- or else (just as likely) clint once told her to help herself if she ever found herself aboard his ship. ]

We're working with the base model of basically everything.

[ kate smirks, and pops the lid on the coffee grounds. she give them an appreciative sniff. ]

I jumped at the first opportunity to transfer.

Lots of reasons. [ kate shrugs, but ultimately she appears undeterred by nova's question. ] Because it's a brand new ship -- and that's more appealing than joining some pre-established gang. Because I don't share my name with this one. Because...because now I got someone I know from home aboard.

[ well! that question could have been expected, but somehow kate is taken by surprise. she's halfway through scooping coffee grounds into the filter when the question comes, so she has a moment to weigh her options. everyone else is calling him logan, even though she can't adapt to calling him anything but wolverine to his face.

so: ] Logan. He's...more a friend of Clint's than a friend of mine. But he's a familiar face.

[How long are you visiting, Kate? Because just when it might be reasonable to worry that Clint plans to get himself left behind in the wake of the fleet, he finally shuttles his way to the First Breath for the last time - and the first time in a long time. He begins to whistle a few steps away from his room but he doesn't get very far with that. Because..]

"Hawkeye."

[Barton stands for a moment in the entryway, and shifts a bag of last-minute supplies from one shoulder to the other.]

"Come in, sit down, make yourself at home."

[Still, he's happy to see her.]

[ at first, she's stretched out on his cot. laying on her stomach, actually, and idly scrolling through her communication device. kate barely looks up at him as he arrives, but she does scoot backwards and haul herself into a sitting position. her heels hit the floor with a soft thud. not that he hears it.

she holds up a finger (gimme a sec) and finishes reading through another message before setting aside the device for good. promptly, she lifts her chin and makes her mouth well-visible. ]

Took you long enough.

Yeah, well I really wanted Ziggy to give me one of those darts.

[Commiserate with him, go on.]

I'd have come quicker if you sent a message. You didn't send a message did you?

[Because now he's about to check his device-thingie.]

Nah, don't bother.

[ she waves her hand -- dismissing his attempt to track down any notice of her arrival. ] I didn't mind the wait. Besides, I know people. I kept myself entertained.

[He gestures toward the rest of the ship with a tilt of the head. Clint hadn't really gotten to know any of the other First Breathers himself. Just Nova and Furiosa really, and them not very well. He doesn't really want Kate to know that if he can help it. Especially since she could probably name everyone on her ship, and knew their birthdays, and knew their favorite members of the cast of Friends.]

The other archer, actually.

[ a calculated reveal! kate wonders whether clint knows he shares his ship with another sharpshooter. she watches his face, eager to learn. ]

[Well at that point it was just a process of elimination sort of thing. Kate wasn't talking about Furiosa, he could tell that much from the construction of her sentence. There was a good chance she meant one of the other people he'd barely spoken to, but he barely trusted himself to pronounce their names right so..]

Nova?

[Yeah, Clint's Mr. Cool Guy, playing it cool.]

[ lucky guess, barton. ]

Yeah. Her.

[ kate crosses her arms. ]

[Her confirmation takes him completely by surprise, and his surprise probably puts and end to his duplicity. Oh well, he's coming into the room now and setting down the bag.]

She any good?

Can't say. Haven't seen her shoot. I don't even think she has a bow. [ yet. give it a few days, and kate will learn otherwise. ]

Here's the weird thing, though. She claims she's seen me shoot.

Not...quite. [ kate stands up. honestly, there's just something about being too relaxed around clint that she can no longer quite achieve. he might not be lock-step with her timeline, but the doubt's still there. lingering. ] She says she knew me from whatever gated-community-cum-prison she was in before the Fleet.
