[ The video feed clicks on as Ororo wakes, with the sound of her cape's wrist bangles clattering against whatever assorted metal fixtures there are on the bed as she gets to her feet. It's quiet aside from the background noise of the Hospitality Deck, with Ororo silently assessing the situation she'd found herself in. Was it a kidnapping? She could see the void of stars and space through the large window - had she been pulled into another intergalactic issue? Ororo frowned, the sparks of lightning crawling along her skin making the video feed flicker with static. ]

[ Assuming that there were other X-Men with her here somewhere (nine times out of ten they were pulled into these things together), she decided to go looking for them and regroup... or at least find someone on the Deck to question. She takes the communicator with her just because it looked useful, but neglects to switch it off or anything - so between brief moments of static from her lightning, it happens to pick up her movement and voice as she mutters to herself: ]

By the Goddess, I do not have time for this. I have a school to run!

Yes... I've heard these Atroma tend not to show themselves. They also haven't been heard from in a while, if what I've been told is correct.

[Which is a more effective move if they intend to keep them all imprisoned like zoo animals for entertainment. They could be near enough, but out of sight.]

Did this other experience end on the creators' terms?

It would depend on how you look at it, really. We fought our way to freedom, but Mojo did want to keep us around to fight for their entertainment. [She smiles blandly.] Violence is a good way to improve ratings, or so he says.

I wonder if that holds true here. [He taps a finger against his communicator, thinking. Erik has no way of knowing, with his account already frozen on arrival, and having not engaged in any violence so far.] I was told it's generally peaceful. I take that to mean that fighting on a larger scale doesn't happen often.

Other than this ratings business, there doesn't seem to be any direct competition between those here.

I suppose we should be thankful for that. [Because the last thing she wants is to be forced into yet another 'fight each other for our entertainment!' scenario.] But that just leaves me a bit confused as to why we are here at all, and what we are expected to do in the meanwhile.

For the former, your guess is as good as mine. But for the latter... [He tilts his head sideways a bit and taps at the back of his head, behind his left ear.] You'll find they've helpfully given you some kind of skillset.

[... The tone he takes and his choice of words instantly puts her on edge.]

What sort of skillset? And how did they manage this?

An implant. As to what it is, you'll need to think on it yourself. I found I knew more about engine repairs than I do normally.

So they've altered us physically and mentally, somehow. [She makes it sound like it's a violation... and for her, it kind of is. The screen of the communicator flickers with static again.] Is there anything of us they haven't touched and tampered with?

As far as I can tell, they haven't touched our souls.

[He sounds pretty dry; maybe that's a joke.]

[Well, it has her smiling wryly.]

The other benefit is that you won't be on that ship for long. You'll be moved onto one of the others soon enough, and then you'll have a bit more leeway to move around.
