[ The video feed clicks on as Ororo wakes, with the sound of her cape's wrist bangles clattering against whatever assorted metal fixtures there are on the bed as she gets to her feet. It's quiet aside from the background noise of the Hospitality Deck, with Ororo silently assessing the situation she'd found herself in. Was it a kidnapping? She could see the void of stars and space through the large window - had she been pulled into another intergalactic issue? Ororo frowned, the sparks of lightning crawling along her skin making the video feed flicker with static. ]

[ Assuming that there were other X-Men with her here somewhere (nine times out of ten they were pulled into these things together), she decided to go looking for them and regroup... or at least find someone on the Deck to question. She takes the communicator with her just because it looked useful, but neglects to switch it off or anything - so between brief moments of static from her lightning, it happens to pick up her movement and voice as she mutters to herself: ]

By the Goddess, I do not have time for this. I have a school to run!

[If the hair wasn't enough the comment about running a school would be. Not her Storm. But it's been so long since she's seen her Storm. She never showed up at the prison even for a moment like some of the others.]

You really can pull of any hairstyle, can't you? [A quip and from a Kitty with shorter hair than Ororo is probably used to, but her eyes tell a deeper story. It's an odd thing being so happy and hopeful to see a stranger. But she's getting used to it. She has quite the little X-Family here now. Always room for more. Maybe leaving the prison wasn't such a bad thing after all.]

[ She swallows the annoyed "What?" that was about to spring to her lips - her already dangersously stretched patience tempered by that particularly familiar voice. She finally takes a good look at the communicator in her hand-- ]

No one's called me that in awhile. [Just a hint too softly.] Hey.

[It's getting kind of overwhelming. Rogue, Kurt, and Remy all here greeting her when she arrived and then Logan and Erik? Even Laura despite only knowing her in the prison. And now Storm. If it wasn't for the part where they were all abducted and held against their wills this would really be touching.]

[Laura picks up that voice from wherever she is perched on the ship, and a few minutes later she finds herself peering around the corner at Ororo, her gaze thoughtful. She...seemed like the 'correct' storm, although with that haircut, well...]

Storm.

[She called as she stepped into view.]

Laura! [Ororo knows that voice, and that figure, though it's been a while since she'd seen her last. She finds herself smiling a little bit despite the situation they were in; it was instinct when it came to interacting with X23.] It's good to see you. Have you been awake long?

That's quite a look ya got goin' there chere. [Another X-Man? Wow, you would almost think mutations were catchy with the amount of them showing up of late. Although once again Remy was sure this wasn't the Storm from his universe (there were just so many out there) but if she was as easy going as the others who had shown up then it shouldn't be a real problem.] I like it, really suits ya.

[You know, focusing on the important things first.]

[Ororo peers down at the communicator. She'd have preferred to hear this familiar voice in person, but it was better than nothing.]

You say that about every style I have, Remy.

[She can't tell that there's something different about him yet; after all, he only joined the X-Men after her initial punk rock phase. She isn't sure if he's seen pictures...]

[Well how about that. It's almost a damn reunion here. Though this is certainly a retro look for Ororo. He hasn't seen her with that haircut in a few years. That was odd.]

You're in space, 'Ro. Don't go fryin' the circuitboards trying to get off.

[... Somehow she's barely surprised to hear his voice, even from her communicator. She looks at him through the tiny device.]

A little lightning has never hurt any space-worthy craft we've been in before, Logan. [Said a bit haughtily; she's still peeved about this whole situation.] And whoever's taken us this time will just have to deal with it, regardless of their intentions of bringing us here.

[She's not an x-man, but she does appreciate interesting hairstyles. And, well, Nightingale has sort of taken upon herself the job of trying to explain things to as many newbies as she can.]

You had a school to run. Now you have an enforced vacation, by way of unfortunate kidnapping.

If it helps, I'm told no time passes back in your homeworld while you're here. So you'll get back to your school exactly as you left it.

[... Sometimes she's not very good at that 'helping newbies' thing.]

[Fortunately, that explanation is... not even new to Ororo. Getting whisked away by impromptu kidnappings, with no time passing back in her homeworld, is a bit old hat for her by now. So this new information is taken in with little more than an irritated sigh... and a fair bit more static.]

That's good to hear. But in my experience, anything enforced by kidnapping tends to come hand in hand with other, unfortunate circumstances to be dealt with. [Or at least, that's how it usually happens in comicbook crossover events.]

I assume you are part of this... vacation as well?

[Whoa, this lady looks neat. She's got cool bangles and cool hair and she looks like she fights evil monsters on a day-to-day basis. That's enough that Takeshi catches curiously, half of his head poking out from behind one of the bunks. The sparks of lightning are concerning, but then she talks, and...]

You're a teacher? Do you teach Elementary school?

[He thinks he'd be in school by now. If he were still home, he'd get to go to school.

Even if he's very runty, looks no more than five, he'd definitely go.]

[The last thing Ororo was expecting to hear here was the voice of a child. She turns to look back at the little figure huddled behind a nearby bunk, her earlier ire melting away to surprise.]

... No, I'm afraid not. My students are all in high school. [She smiles a little.] You can come out, I will not hurt you.

[ -- another x-man. wowsers, but either the atroma have a particular poaching penchant for mutants or...well, kate doesn't really know the alternative. kate recognizes storm right of the bat (how could she not?) but she approaches the feed with the understanding that familiarity might not be mutual. ]

Sorry. [ exhale. ] Time's about all we have in the Fleet.

[How brave, Kate! Ororo is familiar with her in passing. They didn't exactly meet, but Ororo was barely present in Children's Crusade.... Perhaps it's better that Ororo only barely remembers her.]

[Regardless, Ororo's answer is immediate:] Forgive me if I say that that is not an answer I am willing to take on face value.

[ there is literally nothing better for Chara to do at the moment, stuck on the Marsiva the way they are, monitored for whoever is watching to see. there's no way they can hunt out any weapons to replace their confiscated knife with eyes on them, because there's no way to make it not look suspcious for a ten-year-old to be gathering sharp implements.

they may have to play the normal, friendly child card for now, but at least without anyone else from their world here, they don't have to act like Frisk anymore.

so! they actually pay Storm some attention when she marches out onto the deck, peering over curiously from a seat they've taken to watch outside as the ship moves. ]

Did you just wake up here?

[Ororo stops short at the sound of such a young voice.]

I did just wake up, yes. [They're so calm about this too. How odd.] And you? [They didn't seem to look like they were behind all this, so as much as looking to a child for answers might be... strange, it was better than nothing.]

[Yeah, Clay's been feeling pretty down since one of his crewmates got so badly hurt. But hey, school talk! He ends up perking up a little because of it.]

What do you teach?

[Assuming she'd gotten at least a basic spiel of the situation by now, Ororo takes this question a little calmer than she would have earlier. She'd run into quite a few younger people here, and she's not sure how to feel about that.]

... Basic elemental control, Flight, Tactics and Strategy, Ethics... And Earth Science as well. [She smiles, she knows how it sounds.]

[A fuzzy blue teen gasps as he sees the familiar face on the video feed. There's no mistaking who that is...]

...Storm?!

[...but his surprise at seeing her is amplified by the very unfamiliar hairstyle.]

[She'd heard from others that Kurt - a Kurt - was here, so it wasn't like she was going into this blind. ... But it didn't make seeing him any less bittersweet.]

[He was so young, too. She tries to keep the sadness from her tender smile.]

... Hello, Kurt. It's good to see you.

[Now that's interesting. He hasn't seen the communicators distort like that before. Generally, they seem to be far better quality than any transmission he would see at home. The woman's reaction sounds more like one born of exasperation than alarm, as well. How many people brought here are veterans at this kind of thing?

He opens up the video and replies mildly.]

I'm afraid whatever plans you had have been put on hold.

[Dryly, and with a mild sigh:] I'm beginning to realize this, yes.

I suppose it's not as huge of an inconvenience as I initially thought. But I tire of getting pulled into these things without my express permission. [#XMenProblems]

[...well, she sees Ororo's got the group welcome already. She also sees this is very much not 'her' Storm. So. Nerves? Yeah. Those.

So a Rogue sporting this haircut, somewhere in her mid-twenties, may not be that much of a surprise by the time Storm's gone through everyone else.]

I'd say it was good ta see ya again, but well - complications.

[By this point, she's probably found a quiet place to sit and sift through the network feeds. Laura was off... Doing Laura things, so she's here learning her way through the apparently important device.]

Rogue. [Ororo gives her a nod and a warm smile.] Complications or not, I will say that it's always good to see you well. [No comments on the hair - it's not like Ororo has room to talk about old or new haircuts, after all.]
