[Asuka is sitting on her bed, with a bright red notebook and pen in hand and a slight frown crossing her face. She's still wearing the same form-fitting red-and-purple combat plugsuit she's been in since her arrival. For once, she doesn't look so much annoyed as she does wary, though honestly, with her, it's hard to tell.]

This is Asuka Shikinami Langley. [No wave. She scribbles something on a notebook page that's probably just a line and not any kind of script.] I have a few questions for everyone. The more people that answer, the more accurate the survey, so I suggest you tell me.

[All business. Asuka would applaud herself for her own professionalism if there was any point. There's no telling how long it'll last.]

First, I want to know your nationalities. Second, I want to know what your occupation was before the Fleet. I'm trying to figure out if there's a pattern to the kidnappings or any groups that get targeted more than others.

[Which is what the notebook is for. She really doesn't trust the network not to bungle everything at Atroma's whim. There's a brief, reluctant pause, and then--]

Before you ask, I was born in Germany. I was a pilot before, too. That's all.

Kaji-san had a garden right outside of NERV headquarters that he showed me once. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I think I can see the appeal now. It's quiet and easy to get into. Easier than I thought it would be.

I saw a bunch of different places. Kind of reminded me of a shopping mall.

Most of the time I'm just sitting around, listening to music. We could do that too. I'm fine with sharing my headphones. I don't know if we have the same tastes, though.

I don't know. What do you like? [She remembers his old tape player, but she'd never sampled his music.] I don't care as long as it isn't crap from fifty years ago. Four-Eyes was always singing during battles.

["Fifty years ago" means something different to each of them...]

I like a lot of music. I mean, as long as it's actual music, not just someone yelling about how much their life sucks. I don't need more teenage angst.

I got this album from the space station that sounds like instrumental post-rock. It's nice to listen to. I'm fond of classical music too but that's really old...

I haven't played darts before. I'd be willing to give it a try. I mean, I don't know if I'm any good, but I did have a lot of training in marksmanship. [The Sixth Angel... yeah...] So if you lose you can blame my superiors for that.

So did I. [But the majority of her practice was just as part of her physical therapy after Bardiel. She'd thrown balls and darts in her hospital bed until she was sick of both, but pushed on anyway. Every improvement meant she'd be one step closer to being cleared for active duty.] I'm not going to lose.
