Also, thanks to Kate, we now have a SWEARS AND ATTITUDES JAR displayed prominently in the kitchen. Whenever someone's being naughty instead of nice, they're compelled to deposit a few credits (or at least an iou) into the awaiting jar.

I suppose we could. But where's the fun in that?

now i'm imagining azula vs a fire extinguisher...

[sara's eyes linger on the younger girl. the ship's small; she knows azula by sight, but little else.

then she shrugs, half-turning back towards the wall.]

This your handiwork?

[it's the attitude, why she has to ask. azula isn't someone she'd choose on sight for, apparently, burning metal walls; but sara isn't someone a lot of people would choose on sight for a plenty.]

ngl i would pay to see that just for sheer comedy value

[Azula casually opens her hand with the flick of her wrist and a ball of flame appears there.]

A reminder of a minor disagreement with another crew member.

[sara's gaze -- sharpens, flicking from azula to the flame. she's seen a lot of things over the past six years, but this is a new one.

people summoning fire out of thin air. that's. nice.]

Handy trick. [but she doesn't remember seeing any of their shipmates looking particular charboiled, when she thinks about it.] I'd hate to see what happens when you have a major disagreement with someone.

Indeed. [She smiles, and it's a sharp smile-- no soft edges here.]

But surely there's no need to worry about that here. [Message communicated, she extinguishes the fire in her palm.]

Princess Azula, of the Fire Nation. And you would be Sara Lance. Our new security officer.

[It isn't hard to deduce. Azula keeps vigilant watch over the crew roster.]

You've done your homework.

[sara tilts her head, acknowledging, and shoves her hands into her back pockets. she's as willing to believe azula tried to toast someone as she is that azula might've torched the walls to make a point.]

If you know that, [she's the security officer, she means] you know you can tell me if someone else bothers you. It's kinda my job. [apparently. and before she sounds like she's dismissing azula's ability --] You said you're a princess, right? Getting your hands dirty isn't supposed to be your problem.

[and oxygen's going to be in shorter supply whenever they leave this station, which is what really worries her. giving people chances is a lot more oliver's territory than hers, especially when she's clearly being threatened, but azula's a young girl.]

It's true, of course. But you know what they say. If you want something done right...

[Was that a fire joke...? Azula smiles.]

... I'm glad we're on the same page.

[revivo]

[the first of many. the first of many. she struggles with herself for a beat, wondering if she wants to say anything else, or if she even should. it's not really her business if anyone on this ship wants to get into a fight or not. this isn't her city, and these people aren't her comrades.]

Hey, [she says finally.] I mean it. Everybody should be able to feel safe here. [including azula. and including anyone azula disagrees with.] If I have to enforce that, I will.

[Azula considers arguing that for a second. Safe? On her ship? It's almost laughable. Safety is a terrible motivator. Fear is much better. But she's just made a potential new ally-- how much does she want to throw that away? No. Better to play it cool, for now. She isn't totally healed yet from her fight with Logan. She can't afford to get into another one.

So she demurs.]

... Of course. I look forward to having a... fruitful working relationship.

Yeah, me too.
