[There's some disorienting tilting to the view from his communicator before Felix backs up into frame, affording the prospective audience both a decent view of the dark blue doublet he's obtained a few worlds ago as well as the room around him. The space is wide open and filled with a mismatched array of furniture and bookshelves that seem only partially occupied, which is really the thing of utmost import right now.

He smiles and offers the camera a sweeping wave]

Greetings, Fleet members. My name is Felix and I have a brief request for all of you. If you are not aware, this [Another wave] is the Iskaulit library. If you are new and not aware of the Iskaulit, it is a communal ship in the fleet which you can reach via shuttle. This library was previously curated by a former fleet member aboard one of the smaller ships, largely through their own finances and donations of others. Since then the collection hasn't much changed.

Now..[with that out of the way, it's time to get to business, and he folds his hands in front of him]...this is where I ask all of you for help. I realize we are all rather poor right now, but I also know many of you are finding ways to make up for it. I ask that you take a few of those chips and buy a book or two while we are still near the Starlight, as it may be the last chance we may have for a month or two. Not every place we visit will be nearly so full of ways to occupy your time, not to mention the stretches of time in between.

If you find it in your heart and better interest to contribute, you can bring any books you procure to me at the SS Starstruck, or bring them directly here. Nearly anything is appreciated. [He has some standards, but only some]

[ it's just too tempting to jump right into the conversation when they start like that ]

[He could ask about the lack of last name but where he comes from that's not uncommon, and the reasons behind it aren't always polite to bring up on a first conversation.]

Don't worry about it. I appreciate the interest and the enthusiasm.

[ the reason behind it is mostly that he's gotten sort of used to a more casual atmosphere around the fleet, he wouldn't be opposed to mentioning his last name. it would be unfortunate if anyone were to recognize it and make the connection to his father - but that's a risk he's always had to live with and an outcome he's had a lot of practice dealing with of late. ]

I got a whole lot of both! So uh, who's the owners? Do you score extra points if I say you sent me? [ cuz 'do I get a discount' sounds rude. ]

[He smiles appreciatively]

His name is Crowley. Don't expect him to actually be running the place himself, he prefers to delegate, if you understand me. But on the off-chance you find him there...yes, it just might.

Be sure to laugh at his jokes.

I totally get it. [ he nods. he's usually the one being delegated to cover everyone's work. and when he's not, he somehow volunteers to do it. ]

Crowley, laugh at his jokes - got it.

[ with alcohol involved, that probably shouldn't be too hard, right? ]

So you're the librarian? [ he's doing manners backwards - you open with asking the person about themselves, winn ] How d'you like it? [ it doesn't sound like the most exciting work ever but it sure beats stewing in your own brain! he. thinks. ]

[The fewer personal questions, the better, in his opinion.]

For something I mostly fell into...? [He glances behind him, thoughtfully] I like it just fine. I have always liked books, and I have likewise taken them for granted in the past. Not so much these days.

Right - [ oh, he agrees. he laughs a little awkwardly ] if this whole thing is a conspiracy to teach us some gratitude, I'd say lesson learned.

[ no way it's anything that positive but a guy can....joke? ]

[A guy certainly can, and he's been guilty of it himself many a time. He laughs softly]

If only things were that simple.

Hey for all we know, we could not be going simple enough -

[ all his ideas to what's really going on here keep getting more and more convoluted, maybe for the conspiracies he can't see the trees! ]]
