I know there are some people from Aather here, but I'm curious—I mean, if you want to talk about it—has anyone else had their memory... messed with? Taken away and given back? I guess you wouldn't know if it had just been taken away... Or, I don't know.

If you haven't had something like that, do you ever just get new information? I don't think I'm explaining this right.

[ she looks mildly annoyed and ends the video ]

Our souls were destroyed, and our memories with them. Getting them back was a matter of repairing our souls. So it was more a secondary effect of what happened.

[He shrugs.]

The first time was deliberate, near as I can tell.

And why would you choose that?

Souls thing?

And I didn't exactly choose it. The line we were always fed was that because we had wanted something, we'd been brought there to get the opportunity to make a wish. I certainly didn't ask to have my memories removed. But it was part of the process.

And yeah, that's how it was for us. I don't know if we chose, and if we did it wasn't about wanting something. But being pulled to Aather is what removed our memories.

There do seem to be an unfortunate number of places that do this to people.

I wonder if there's any relation, or if it's all just random.

I would think... if there's a benefit to it, to those who create such systems, then it may not be surprising to see it surface in different places.

[Even though that's a fairly cynical point of view. He hasn't thought well of either sets of higher beings who created the places he's been to.]

The fact that there have been at least three seems to bear that out.

Yeah, at least. Four or five, from what I know.

Oh, right. I keep forgetting about the fourth one I've heard of.

[He didn't live it, and heard about it eleven years ago. Easy enough to forget, especially when he's a pro at such things.]

A place called Sabra. Someone I knew in the library mentioned it to me once... showed me a memory from it.

[Which he was in. It was a bizarre moment that he's put out of his mind since then, since ultimately it didn't happen to 'him'. Not in this lifetime.]

I don't know much about it, but I think it was similar to Kyriakos and the library in some respects, at least.

I don't think I've heard of a ship... [Not one that involved memories, at least. He'd seen some of Maya's strange memories involving ships, but hadn't really considered what world that might be.]
