No problem. [Headtilt. He's not sure what that'll taste like, but he's also not the one drinking that.] I'm sure you'll know it when you taste it.

I'm Stefan, by the way. I'm the Paisley's lab support, but I'm visiting a friend here.

Nice to meet you, Stefan. I'm Nomi Sunrider, one of the security staff on the Heron.

[Her head dips in greeting. This boy's name is familiar, Vima had definitely mentioned him...]

Who are you visiting?

[Sunrider. Well, no wonder he'd seen a resemblance. Stefan gives her a more genuine smile as he admits,] Vi - er, Vima.

You must be her mom. [He holds his hand out for a handshake.] It's good to finally meet you, Ms. Nomi.

[Her hand reaches out in greeting.]

And you as well, Stefan. I am Vima's mother, and she's certainly mentioned you.

Good things, I hope. [His cheeks grow a faint red, because he knows he hasn't been the perfect role model.] She was kind of the first person I met on the Fleet, so...

["I figured I should stick around her as often as I could."] I don't know how much she says it or anything, but she's glad to have you here.

Absolutely. she said you were a valued friend. And that means you're as good as family, to us.

[As far as Nomi is concerned, anyone that's a friend of Vima's is worth a billion credits, two star systems, and an entire starfleet.]

It's a bit of a shock though. she was four, when I last saw her.

[A valued friend? Him? Stefan blinks back surprise, because he couldn't have heard that right.]

Oh. Uh, thank you. [He stands up straighter, with a touch more rigidity than he'd had earlier.] And yeah, I'd imagine that would take some time to adjust.

Just a bit. She's grown up well though.

[A beat.]

How did you two meet?

On the Marsiva, actually. We arrived at the same time, and when you're stuck on a big ship with only each other...

[He folds his arms, looking almost thoughtful.] Well, she talked to me first. I was writing it all down, and there she was, looking out the bay window.

Fair enough. I was alone when I arrived, which...well, it wasn't terribly comforting, but I could feel other Jedi around so it wasn't so bad.

[A comfort, that.]

She's always been fond of space. We both are, to tell the truth. Seeing all those stars...

All the way on the Marsiva? [Now that's news to him.] Huh.

[He won't dwell on that now, instead seizing the subject change.]

It's beautiful out there. I never thought I'd see them this close and personal. Growing up, the closest you could get was a telescope.

Yes. If you know...how...to sense a presence, it's not difficult. Even at a great distance, especially with the kinds of Jedi that are here.

You're from Earth, then?

[A planet she's come to associate with non-spacefaring civilizations.]

[He nods, half-wondering how many Earthlings she'd run into before...] Right. I'd never left it prior to arriving here.

We've got some space travel, but it's nothing on this scale.
