Understandable. So, want the tour? We even have some kale bacon which I'm assured is a treat and not a punishment.

Yes... only, what is kale bacon? [He'd have to assume it's made out of something other than the usual bacon, but kale is unfamiliar to him.]

[It's probably kelp. Either way it sounds about the same to her.]

Bacon made out of vegetables basically. I don't know if you noticed it [Since someone forgot to point it out earlier in the thread] but Vision has a garden hanging up in the upper portion of the cargo bay. So, he grows things. Mostly food and medicine I think. I'm not exactly the gardening type.

I did see it, briefly. I don't think I'd know how to grow things in space.

[He gets to his feet.]

[She'll slide past to get the door and lead him to the hall.] I guess we can star with the cargo bay. [She heads back that way and when they reach the room she starts airwalking up to where the garden hangs.] The Iskaulit has more. Have you been over there?

[After a pause, he lifts off the ground himself and follows her up, in a straight line.]

I have, though not as much as I could have been. The gardens, though, I have seen.

[It held some interest for him. He had started a garden, in his last days in Kyriakos, part of his never-ending determination to ensure there would be an independent food supply for his team. He can only hope it was tended after he had passed the duty along when he left.]

There seems to be a lot of usable space on that ship.

I go over there to train most days. [And she's done a sweep of everything else, but the training room is definitely where she spends the bulk of her time.]

There is a lot of space. [She glances over at him.] Was that just an off-hand comment or was it more of a "and I have plans for it" comment?

Off-hand. Though in an emergency, it's a decent source of metal. [He doesn't particularly want to gut a spaceship for material, especially since they're in space and that could go badly. Regardless of whether he can reach the hulls or not, he's not about to start blowing holes in things and find out the hard way that he can breach them anyway.]

Suuuure as long as no one is on it. Tends to be kind of popular. And here I thought maybe you'd want to put a knitting room in it or something. [Okay, maybe not specifically that. She takes a few backward steps back down toward the floor to continue the tour.]

[He smirks, landing beside her.]

Now there's an idea. I could diversify my sewing skills. [This could be a joke, or it might not be.]

See, now, I feel like you're kidding but part of me is still wondering if you actually have some kind of sewing skills.

Skills might be pushing it. I learned enough to be able to repair clothing.

[Which he has used extensively in the past. Whether he creates his own outfits, well. That's anyone's guess.]

Like by stitching little heart patches over holes? [Would this conversation be happening if he was her Magneto? It's hard to imagine. Then again it's hard to imagine her Magneto removed from their world and in this setting.]

[He snorts.] Maybe that would work, for those who wear their hearts on their sleeves.

So not us. [Not that hers have been very hidden lately. She'd opened up a lot in the prison, but appearing here without those people she'd come to rely on and trust had set her back to a more closed off state. However, the constant barrage of familiar X-Men faces and accepting people or just people she could relate to was quickly wearing those walls back down.]

[Erik doesn't so much respond in the affirmative as tilt his head in acknowledgement. The same could be said for him - he's made great strides in being open with others, learning to trust and rely upon them. Here, though, he's on his own. It will take a while for him to think otherwise.]

So, what else is there to see?

We don't have a lot of upgrades here, but I'll take you through the kitchen and bridge. I find the differences between the ships kind of interesting anyway. We have a lab now too.

I'll admit yours is the first other one I've been to.

I've been on the Blameless to see Logan's ship and the Tourist to see Kara. I thought they'd all be more uniform.

Maybe they've changed more as time passes. [Through upgrades, and personal touches.]

The personal touch can make things more palatable.

Probably. No lab when I came on board. Then we get a lab tech and suddenly there's a lab.

I've always gone back and forth on the personal touch thing. [Her room was pretty free of them as he might have noticed.] I had a lot for awhile in the prison.

Really. That would give people incentive to have one of each type of augment on board, if they all come with similar benefits. [And how does that benefit Atroma? If the augment types were all controlled on separate signals, perhaps...]

Yes, but you were there for a year. There's a natural accumulation that comes with staying somewhere for a long time. [Provided it's possible. Between the camps and his own prison cell, he'd never owned much.] In some circumstances, at least.

It would, but I haven't heard anyone recruiting for transfers or maybe that's more of a one-on-one wooing situation. [She's not sure how it benefits the Atroma either. Maybe it's strictly utilitarian. They need them to be able to operate the vessels, so they make them capable of it and that's all? Not that the augment's uses end there. She's sure of that.]

There was a lot to accumulate. Everything was free and plentiful. [Not like home. Oh, sure, things were free in the sense that it was all there for the taking unless someone else had taken it first.] But I didn't always like the idea of feeling...settled.

I know our ship hasn't had a communications person since before I arrived. [What benefits a communications augment gives a ship is something he doesn't know.

That dislike of feeling settled he can understand. It was something he'd reacted against more than once, in Kyriakos at least.] Were you ever told that you were intended to be released? Was that part of the system?
