Because I've been thinking about my friends back home a lot lately, and having been the only person from my world here this entire time... [She trails off, and decides to just wait for responses.]

Space pirates were my first thought, actually. It would make for some exciting action sequences!

Hmmm, and some interesting explosions, although those would all be inside of our ships and not outside.

Mmmm, that's the downside- the potential for destruction to us. Atroma doesn't seem to like putting us in serious peril, though, or at least they haven't since I've gotten here.

So whatever is happening now -- it is not a result of us being in peril, but us simply running against, what, low ratings?

Maybe- like, they want to create an air of mystery and intrigue around the gumballs.

I am not entirely sure they understand the meaning of 'mystery' then.

Not really, no. They seem to have a lot of warped perceptions.

I suppose we should be glad they have not worked some sort of magic to make us all their slaves.

Considering all the measures they DO have in place, we have a relative amount of freedom, yes. It helps me get through whatever they put us through.

[tallasaking]

So this isn't a prison ship - or at least not like any prison I have personally inhabited.

Not really- we're free to visit others as we please. And we are provided for, too. We have bunks, bathing facilities, food. The food isn't very tasty, of course, but it provides minimum nutrition.

So what would we call this? Rather nice kidnapping?

A gilded cage, as it were. It may be a nice, big, roomy cage, but it's a cage nonetheless.

Gilded cage is ... an accurate description, actually.

And the worst part is, we never know when the floor's going to be yanked out from under us. I try not to live in constant paranoia, but sometimes they make it hard.
