A year, huh... [Jennifer looks distant and sounds a little sad.] How... [She hesitates.] If you've been here for a while, what kinds of things do you do to cope when you're really, really missing home? Because I've been thinking about my friends back home a lot lately, and having been the only person from my world here this entire time... [She trails off, and decides to just wait for responses.]

I hear drinking works quite well. I find it works for me, at least.

[That got her to laugh.]

Well, that's assuming I can find some actual alcohol here on a tight budget.

I shall be pleased to loan you the money, if you wish. With a small interest if you do not pay me within the month, of course.

I find spending time with those I care here about helps tremendously.

[A year... Wanda is suddenly aware that she's coming up on an anniversary herself, and, considering how that realization makes her feel, she can imagine how her friend must be feeling right now. She considers things for a moment, before turning on her communicator's video feed. She tries to sound relatively upbeat, but her expression is clearly sympathetic to Dr. Keller's feelings at the moment.]

What are you up to right now?

[It's a rather forward question of her, and Wanda allows for the possibility that Jennifer might simply want to be by herself at the moment. However, if she's up for some company, Wanda has an idea on how to maybe help her friend feel better.]

I might be game if I knew when our funds were going to be unfrozen. Which might be a while, at this rate...

That's right... it's yours, too, isn't it? How could I possibly refuse?

Not much of anything, to be honest- glaring daggers at these stupid gumballs every time I pass them. This waystation is starting to feel a little... boring.

Some time is something of a stretch of things.

'How' would be a good way to put it. How the hell has a whole year passed, I mean.

[That face is painfully familiar, but he's not really sure if it'd be — well, a certain someone. After all, he's been around for months, so unless she's avoiding him because of... yeah. Well, okay, that'd be a decent reason. But he'll just test the waters and come to his own conclusion.]

I was in the last place for over a year, and it was... something, to realize how fast time goes when it feels like hours tick by at a mile an hour.

What kind of things have you ended up doing here, to take up time?

[Sometime during the day in which Jennifer posted this out for the fleet, Remy comes strolling into her lab, hand hiding something behind his back. Stopping at her table he moved to reveal a single cupcake on a plate, complete with something that kind of looks like frosting on top of it, and placing it on the table for her.] Sorry, couldn't find 'ny candles, 'nd the rest got stolen by the others. Know it may not be an anniversary ya wanted, but still should get something for it.

[Jennifer raised her eyebrows in surprise, and then it melted into a smile when she saw the gift.]

Well, it's still very sweet, isn't it? Thank you. Being stuck here for so long might not have been what I was expecting, no... but it hasn't been entirely bad.

I'm getting a little stir crazy, to tell you the truth. I've already done all the sightseeing and clerical work I wanted. It's a little ridiculous that whoever we're waiting for still isn't here.

Mmhmm. It's a long time to be away from home... especially when you're used to being around people you know. Nobody else from my world has shown up.

["The last place". Once again, a person who'd been yanked here by Atroma instead of being sent home, apparently. Jennifer thought that would probably be much worse.]

Well, I've been able to keep doing my job, at least. I'm a doctor, and my augment gives my ship a medbay. So it's something, at least.

It is a bit odd that we haven't heard anything on these ... objects yet. I don't suppose anyone's heard something from the Atroma?

[Wanda smiles kindly, ready to offer her friend a counter proposal.]

I have these chocolates that have been sitting uneaten. There are too many for me to eat all of them. Would you care to help?

A lot of things, depending on who I'm missing most.

[His expression softens - he'd noticed how she trailed off, rather than finishing the broadcast.] But a whole year? I'll bring extra ma'amoul for our next lesson.

[He nods.]

Looks like I was upgraded to communications, myself.

It's not my usual occupation, but I'm not too bad at it. And I prefer a little bit of peace. This place is... really calm, for a ship fleet run by kidnappers.

Ya more than welcome cherie, seemed only fittin' since our first dish we get given in this place is chocolate related. Though I might wanna be careful with it 'round Jade, not sure if she's got the same restrictions dogs got with food. [Or if it just stopped with her ears.

More or less inviting himself in, Remy grabbed a near by chair, turning it so he could sit backwards on it and resting his forearms against the top of the back.] Yeah, know what ya mean. It tough to be 'way for so long but also glad it happened.

And that fox does have a tendency to sink her teeth into everything. [Jennifer began peeling the cupcake paper off, taking a bite right away. She then nodded.]

I've met so many kind people here, and I've been lucky to have a good crew, too. Some people I really like have left, but... that's the way of life anywhere, isn't it? And it doesn't diminish the experience of having met them any.

Not to my knowledge. They haven't really addressed us since that mess with our augments, I think, come to think of it.

I'll be there in a few.

[And so she was, getting into a shuttle and hoping over to the Iskaulit right away, looking around for her friend as she entered the bar.]

And it is, isn't it? Atroma seems pretty content to just let us run things on our own with minimal interference. Strange, for people who are allegedly producing a reality show.
