[She hesitates.] If you've been here for a while, what kinds of things do you do to cope when you're really, really missing home? Because I've been thinking about my friends back home a lot lately, and having been the only person from my world here this entire time... [She trails off, and decides to just wait for responses.]

I suppose that's good then. [Though, she's saying that more to be polite, and not entirely convinced of it herself.] I can't imagine what home would be like if the portal over New York had somehow stayed open, or somehow came under the control of the U.S.

Aliens. An Asgardian demi-god or two.

[She says it completely flat, off-hand. Watching for Dr. Keller's reaction, trying to contain her own giggles.]

... demi-gods? I'm... not sure if that's better or worse than what we had.

Well, I was not actually there to meet both of them. I have only met one of them, and he... he's not so bad. The other one, I've heard, was more of a problem. In fact, he's here in the fleet. Or, a version of him at least.

Wow... I guess, like people, they can be good or bad, though.

Pretty much. Honestly, they are more like us than you might think. Excluding the whole, being the stuff of myth and legend.

[Wanda smiles coyly, giving Jennifer a sly wink.]

Of course. I wouldn't know anything about myths and legends coming true.

I imagine your experiences with Atlantis and its people were similar.

I never met very many of them myself, but apparently the Stargate teams back home met a lot of alien civilizations that had adopted Earth mythology as their own and evolved it into their own ideas over him. We even knew a race called the Asgard, who had the names of Norse gods.

[This was becoming increasingly more interesting to Wanda. The potential that Jennifer's world had it's own version of "Asgardians..." well, perhaps there were more constants between the different Earths than Wanda had originally thought.]

These Asgardians... you met them?

Not in person. Sadly, their race was dying when they first contacted humanity. They were humanoid in shape, but... well, picture the stereotypical gray alien with a big head. That's what they looked like. I would have liked to have met them, though.

[At first, Wanda was nodding her head in understanding, as it sounded like her Asgardians and Jennifer's were rather similar. That is... until the whole "stereotypical gray alien" bit. At that part, a look of confusion clearly crosses Wanda's face.]

So... they did not so much look the part of Norse Gods?

[Jennifer shook her head.]

They had contact with Earth many years ago and heard about our belief systems and adopted them that way. Some other races modeled and named themselves after the Egyptian gods. My version of Earth has apparently had a LOT of alien contact that's been kept under wraps.
