[ It's kind of weird that even in space, people still have a sort of schedule. Sleep during the same few hours, wake up and then stay awake for a while, then go back to bed. Even the fact that all around them, it's dark, doesn't seem to take away from that. In a way, it's almost impressive.

Of course, there are always people who don't...quite adhere to that "normal" sleep schedule. Maybe you can't sleep. Maybe you were taking a shower before bed and then you ran out of hot water and the cold water woke you back up. Maybe your bunkmate snores way too loud.

If you are one particular member of the Pathstone (hint: the one who basically only leaves the sickbay about four times a day), then it's a combination of weird unpleasant dreams and the knowledge that there's a good chance of most of the others on board being asleep right now.

Also, hunger. It's not like she's particularly craving weird solid protein stuff, but when you have to eat, you have to eat.

And so she's sitting in the little dining room, trying to find something among the options here. It is not easy. So, to the network (the ones who aren't sleeping): ]

Has anyone thought of a good way to eat the food here? I keep trying, but it still feels wrong when I eat it.

The flavors don't make sense to me, either. I only know what a few of them are. Are they strange for everyone else?

[ If anyone from the Pathstone is around, she'll be hanging around, poking at some chicken solid and some mixed vegetable solid. And actually not hiding her face. It's...kind of hard to eat with it on. ]

[Tek is not asleep. he has not properly slept at all since his arrival. he's dozed at his desk a few times, but that was more out of boredom than anything else.

and all of that awake-time has given him some room to start calming down. he's not quite so much out for proverbial blood, now.

Not yet...it doesn't taste very good no matter what I try.

[ She just about jumps a foot in the air when he speaks. And she was doing so well with avoiding him, too...

It's a bit late to cover her face again, and even if it weren't, she'd left that back in the sickbay. ]

[ There, there, maybe someone will send some decent food. ]

Even the recipes that are here aren't very good.

I had a friend who liked to travel all over the world and try all of the foods that she could...sometimes she'd bring some back for me. Even when I didn't like them, it was better than this.

[ She is not sure... ]

[Clanking, thumping, and slamming as she explores her own kitchen with all of its fancy extra stuff.]

Ah- that sounds wonderful! Where did she go? What kind of foods did you get to try?

She went everywhere, to other continents and where other species lived...

[ She actually...sounds kind of happy, which has been very rare up to now. ]

She liked to bring me desserts, most of all. That and different breads, they kept well. She wouldn't eat any of them herself, she said she'd already tried them all, and just brought back the ones she thought I'd like best.

If you put the orange one all liquidy over the brown one you can add little noodley bits.

[Since all of the other things she knows how to do use the bits that came with the ship.]

Jello-shaped food kind of. There were people who ate in caves from caves in caves pieces of caves from caves and they were very nice and it might count as food.
