The HS Maldua

[Well, it's finally happened. The Maldua has docked and now is your chance to deliver your gumball cargo--regardless of whether or not it's in perfect condition, it would seem.

Multiple ships can dock on the Maldua at once, as can individual shuttles. So whether you're helping, breaking things, or watching others do all the work--interaction can be between pretty much anyone, not just crews.

[ He smiles. ]

It's best to see it at work.

[ Obi-Wan raises his hand and the dismantled parts of the Helper float up into the air. ]

[grandstanding]

[He frowns, leaning forward to watch. It definitely isn't magnetics - he would feel it if it were, plus Obi-Wan is raising the chassis of the Helper as well as the metal gears. Some form of telekinesis, perhaps.]

Is this what you were referring to by something learned?

[beardstrokes]

Well . . . yes and no. A certain amount of innate ability is required as well. I am Force-sensitive so I can tap into it.

[grandstanding]

[So, more like an aptitude. It could be a mutation, but he's learned better than to assume powers from other worlds relate to those in his own.

He waves a hand at the pieces Obi-Wan has floating in the air, just a gesture with nothing behind it.]

Do you want me to try it on these now, then?

[beardstrokes]

By all means, give it a go.

[grandstanding]

[Lifting a hand, Erik puts a reasonable potion of his power into it. It manifests as a pull towards him, the metal drawn towards him like it belongs there.]

[beardstrokes]

[ It trembles in the air, quivering. Obi-Wan exerts a stronger hold, his expression flickering but no less calm. ]

[grandstanding]

[With a raise of an eyebrow, Erik increases the pull two-fold. The gears lurch towards him.]

[beardstrokes]

[ That needs more effort from him, but it's enough for Obi-Wan to gauge their differences in strength. The pull was literally a force of nature and the Force isn't meant to fight against nature. ]

Thank you. I'm going to let go.

[grandstanding]

[Erik nods... but when Obi-Wan lets go, he gathers the metal pieces towards himself. The non-metal casing simply drops, nothing left to hold it up.]

You can do that with any material, I take it.

[beardstrokes]

The material doesn't matter. Neither does the object. The Force can exude a hold on anything.

[grandstanding]

[The collection of gears hangs above his upturned hands, as he watches them whirl around.]

So... yes.

[Really, it was a simple question. He brings his hands up and to the side, making a compressing motion. The myriad of metal pieces condenses into one pointy, steampunk lump.]

[beardstrokes]

The real answer is a little more complicated, I believe.

[ The Force is a field that surrounds them. It drives them, infuses them with its power. It sounds spiritual, but the scientific answer sounds the same. ]

[grandstanding]

[Erik smiles briefly, and drops the ball to the ground with a motion. Clang.]

[beardstrokes]

[ He holds his hand out for Blade to shake. ]

Obi-Wan Kenobi.

[grandstanding]

[He takes it, shaking it firmly.]

A pleasure. Have you been here for long?

[beardstrokes]

Two months now. Not long by anyone's reckoning but I'm fairly familiar with this place by now. It helps that my galaxy is well-aware of space travel.

[grandstanding]

Less of an adjustment period, I imagine.

[beardstrokes]

Certainly. A lot of people tend not to adapt so well in space. What about yourself?

[grandstanding]

First time. I can't say I'm enjoying it.

[beardstrokes]

I would not recommend this kind of travel. Usually we could go anywhere we liked.

[ To a certain degree, of course. ]

[grandstanding]

Yes, I imagine any kind of travel that isn't linked to imprisonment is much preferable.

[Someone's bitter.]

[beardstrokes]

It's certainly different from the prisons I'm used to.

[ And the torture. ]

You sound familiar with the system though.

[grandstanding]

Not this one specifically, but this isn't my first time being removed from my universe to suit someone else's whims.
