The HS Maldua

[Well, it's finally happened. The Maldua has docked and now is your chance to deliver your gumball cargo--regardless of whether or not it's in perfect condition, it would seem.

Multiple ships can dock on the Maldua at once, as can individual shuttles. So whether you're helping, breaking things, or watching others do all the work--interaction can be between pretty much anyone, not just crews.

The "force"... no. [He still feels like he's heard that somewhere before, but can't pin it down.] I'm not familiar with that.

I control magnetism, and metal.

Oh, cool! [Ahsoka's encountered enough weird abilities by now to not question how they work without use of the Force anymore.]

Can everyone where you're from do that?

[It's a valid question, okay. Everyone where she grew up could use the Force. At least in the Temple, anyway.]

No, they can't. All mutants have unique talents.

[Understanding dawns on her face.]

Oh! So you're like Kurt, then.

[He nods, even though he's not certain which Kurt she means.]

I am. So you're familiar with the idea.

Yep! Kurt's a friend. When I first got here, we had a misunderstanding. I thought he was an alien like me, and he thought I was a mutant like him. So we had a bit of a cultural exchange.

I did wonder. But I've met enough people who were neither mutant or human that I didn't want to assume.

I don't mind. I'm used to it. There are even less non-humans here than there are back home, and a lot of people here have never seen an alien before. I get all kinds of questions.

Even so. [He tilts his head, watching her.] Questions like, "What are you?"

Yep. Gotten that one before. As well as "What is that on your head? Is it a hat?"

I don't mind it so much from people here, though. For people who haven't grown up with other species, I don't expect them to know any better. It's when it happens at home that it's obnoxious. It's like, we've been an inter-galactic community for thousands of years! You'd think they'd know by now better than to believe in stereotypes.

[She says it all pretty flippantly though, not really fussed.]

[Thousands of years don't change much, it seems. Even between galaxies. She has a rather more positive outlook than he does.]

Different universes do tend to make things more complicated. I've had to explain what I am many times before, because people just assume I'm human.

Mm. Kurt said it was something of a contentious issue, in your world...?

[He raises an eyebrow.]

That is putting it lightly, at least as far as my experience goes.

... Oh. I'm sorry to hear it.

It's not something I'm happy about, especially since I keep being kidnapped to other universes so I don't have time to work on it.

Oh. Like Nightingale...? She said this isn't her first time, either.

I wonder if there's a type of person that people like the Atroma seem more inclined to kidnap... considering the population here, we have a unusually high percentage of people who are politlcally influential in their home worlds.

The same place as Nightingale.

[As for that... he certainly wouldn't argue that he's shifted the forces of politics himself.] Are there? That would be an interesting pattern, if it is one.

Mm. Ask anyone here! I don't think there's more than three people in this entire fleet who live a normal, every day civilian lifestyle.

In terms of the reason us being here, that's not too surprising. It's not going to be very entertaining to put ordinary people in space, compared to those of more interesting backgrounds.

Right. But that's presuming that the "reality holo-drama" angle is actually true, and not just a convenient lie.

The story has remained consistent so far?

[As he talks, he reaches out a hand and makes a swiping gesture. Another Helper collapses to the ground, and Erik simply pulls it over to himself.]

Well, sure. If you discount the fact that nobody at any of the places we've stopped seems to have heard of it.

And these are entire planets, aren't they.

That's right. Seems fishy, if you ask me.

You're not wrong.

[Crouching down, Erik starts examining the broken Helper. The chassis might be a problem. With a frown, he reaches his hand into the gap between the head and the body, and just plain pulls out a handful of gears and circuits.]
