[As is common with new arrivals, there are a few very confused moments of waking up and scrambling around before the Fleet's newest arrival manages to find and switch off the nearest camera.

About half an hour later and significantly less panicked-looking, he switches it back on. Some quality time spent with his augment answered the pressing questions, like where am I and why aren't there any weapons here, and that he's not going to get an answer to are my friends okay without a little further input from him. So. If they're here, he reasons, they'll recognize him.]

Shouldn't there be more people here? Or do I get to be the only lucky winner this week?

The name's Finn. There are people on the other ships out there, right?

[ Her mouth quirks up into a little smile, though; she can already tell this one's going to have some interesting reactions to all of the strange and unusual people and things that live here. ]

[Finn ducks his head, a little self-conscious of his initial reaction now.]

So they think we'll be good drama actors?

Eh ... [ She rubs the back of her head a bit sheepishly. ]

I don't think they're exactly expecting you to act. They're just nosy and want you in a situation where they can create drama for you to react to so they can watch.

[He looks dubious, but presumably she'd know better than him.]

And they pay us for it.

Yep. The more crazy stuff that happens to you, the more you get paid.

I ought to be fine, then.

[He still looks dubious, but then, reality television isn't a thing where he's from.]

You ever have one of those weeks where things just keep getting crazier? That's been my week.

[ And that touch of amusement is back. ]

I kinda have, yeah. The crazy isn't going to stop coming anytime soon, though -- so you might just get used to it.

[That's not concerning, not at all. That expression on his face isn't dread, nope.]

That doesn't sound so good. What kind of things we gotta deal with?

[ Ahah. Oops. ]

Nothing dangerous, usually. More like ... you're about to run into a lot of things you never thought existed, or only heard about in stories.

[He already has it on good authority that there are actual Jedi here, so that's a good start.]

Things that try to kill us? Cause last time I got picked up by a strange ship, there were rathtars onboard.

I have no idea what a rathtar is, but no, nothing is going to try to kill you.

[ Well, some of the other passengers might, but ... ]

I could get used to having things lay off trying to kil me for a while.

Are you some type of warrior, then?

[ He kind of doesn't seem like he's very used to battle, but ... ]

[Oh, she'd be right. But he's well trained for it, if nothing else.]

Small team ground tactics, ranged weapons. I can do melee if I have to.

[ Oh, wow. ]

Ranged weapons like what? A gun?

Blasters. They're a little bit like the guns here, but with energy instead of projectiles. Why'd they give us projectiles if we're in ships?

[ She shrugs ]

Pretty much nothing Atroma does makes actual sense.

Great. Just great. How am I supposed to prepare for that?

[ She just laughs a little, sorry Finn. At least it's in a good-natured way and not a condescending one. ]

You're a warrior, aren't you? Haven't you been trained to be prepared for just about anything, then?

Combat, sure. I can adjust to a lot. But I only know one language.

[And everywhere he's visited has been under the aegis of a monoculture, for the most part.]

Well-- now you know more. We're speaking two totally different languages right now, I'm sure. But the augment translates for us, most of the time.

What?

[That doesn't even make any sense.]

But if they could do that, people wouldn't need protocol droids.

Not sure what a "protocol droid" is, but from what I understand, the augment can do a lot of advanced things that people aren't sure how it works.

[ She's not surprised he's doubting it -- she's been around long enough to have heard just about every confused statement about the state of things ever. But he does seem to know about some advanced sounding technology stuff .... ]

Oh, you know, they have like five million languages and they know how to word things so it'll sound good to some other culture. Be easier if everyone all spoke the same language to start with, but the galaxy's a big place.

How can you tell we're not speaking the same language?

Well, I've been around long enough to hazard a guess, just from the way your world sounds completely different from mine.

[ She pauses, looking thoughtful ]
