[Arthur turns on the video, and it appears he's hanging out in his bunk on the Red fish. He holds up a small moleskine notebook, turning the page to the camera and letting it adjust. On the page is a very neat, realistic sketch of a woman's face, delicate with big eyes and long dark hair. He flips it to the next page, where he sketched a man's face, with bigger lips and scruff around his mouth. He takes the notebook away so the camera can focus on his own face.]

Those are just some sketches of people I know. I was thinking maybe I could try and draw things for people. I can even try for some portraits of people from your home, if you'll describe them to me.

[ooc: The drawings are of Ariadne and Eames from Inception. I really like the idea of Arthur sketching people in his notebook, and I imagine his style of art like sin_repent's version. ANYWAY, feel free to have facetwin confusion with the drawings if you'd like.]

[He huffs. The voice that follows isn't British — really, it's hard to pinpoint in general, like he doesn't have much of a real accent instead of a melting pot of many. He's certainly Eames. If you, like, throw him into black shuttle oil, maybe grow a hedge out of that untamed beginning of a beard, tan him a bit and wrap a leather jacket and black scarf. Yes.]

[He squints again, then leans back.] Christ, that's weird.

[And... kind of disappointing. Sorry, Max, but it would be a relief to have a colleague here.]

Sorry. I didn't... That's not supposed to be your face. It's my friend's.

[He taps his pen against the notebook, returning his eyes to the camera.]

What should I call you?

[But it is his face.

He gives the most uncaring of shrugs. The shrugger of the Wastelands.]

Doesn't matter. Pick something.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

... Hn. Think I knew someone with your face. Once.

[So, you know. Right back atcha', man. But then...]

... Unless it was you, and you get shitfaced a lot.

Hm. Most people feel attached to some name, you know.

[Thank you, Arthur, I'm sure he didn't know that. He frowns at that.]

My face? No, I don't think we've met. What was his name?

He rolls his eyes at that. Anyyyyway.]

His name was... Blake. Didn't know him well. Just that he was a cop.

[He chuckles.] A cop? Funny.

[Settling down, he studies him carefully.]

I think you care what people call you.

[... Great. He rolls his eyes.]

Mm. Good to know what you think.

[do you hear that dryly spoken sass]

[His eyes narrow for a few seconds.]

Giving people the power to name you is a dangerous thing. What if they start calling you... I don't know, Princess? Pookey-Bear. Satan.

[scoff]

Not as dangerous as someone shooting holes in you. S'the least of my concerns.

[He shrugs.]

Are those your choices?

[He lifts a brow.]

Are you missing the point entirely on purpose?

[As evidenced by the reply, he and Eames probably have dry sass in common.

After a moment, he huffs.]

... But fine. M'name's John.

[He props his elbow on his knee and his chin in his hand, chuckling.]

Let me guess. Your last name's 'Doe'. [He smiles and shakes his head.] At least it's a name. Mine's Arthur.

Your friend told me about your world.

[Yup, that's totally his last name.]

[Max has been open in his own ways, about his world.

It's not really too concerning; it's obvious if people are around him for long.]

It's just you and Furiosa here? From your world?

Why? Nothing worth interest there.

[He chuckles.] Well, I wouldn't know that. Your world is entirely foreign to me. Anyway, I think it is pretty interesting.

[There's about a 10 second pause where he doesn't know what to say except 'WELL YOU STINK'.]

Do you worry about that? Dying.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

Not really. I try not to die, but it doesn't keep me up at night.

[Just... the other people dying part. He raises an eyebrow back. You never answered.]

Trying not to die is about right.

[Fine, though. He rolls his eyes.]

I survive, but I expect to die any moment. Likely buried in the sand, but here, who knows where.
