[It's been a few days since she went unconscious for no good reason, but when she wakes up, Octavia has no real grasp on the concept of time thanks to a three month trip back home. Somehow.

The process goes from slow to alarmingly fast quicker than she could draw her sword. She shoots up in bed, not realizing she's in the med bay on her ship, eyes darting around like a cornered animal.]

Lincoln?! [Of course her comm is on the table beside the bed recording every moment.

Octavia all but leaps off the cot, blanket falling away to reveal a new tattoo on her arm going part way up her neck. It only takes a moment for the blood to rush to her head, forcing her to sit back down with more force than she cares for. She places a hand to her head as all of it-- the fleet and home-- come rushing back.]

Dammit! [She lashes out, she needs to, kicking at the table beside her, giving the broadcast a shaky view before it settles to show her sitting on the bed with her head in her hands. Now she knows it's on.]

Dammit. How long was I out?

You think so? [It's weird to her. While she technically just woke up with it, it still feels like she's had it for enough time to be used to the thing.

Octavia scoots back in her bed, closer to the head, nodding for Nova to come join her.]

Thanks. Did I miss anything super important?

[takeabow]

[ comes and sits next to her, sipping her drink ]

I don't... think so? We're not docked anymore, and we delivered those crates.

[grounds]

I was up for that at least. So nothing since then...

[She takes a swig and makes a face, leaning back.] Sort of a relief. Enough to think about in the mean time, you know?

But I'm glad you're still here.

[takeabow]

You can't get rid of me that easily.

So. Anything you want to share?

[ she's not snooping as much as hoping to give Octavia an opening if she wants to take it ]

[grounds]

Kinda figured.

[Octavia falls silent for a moment, then she actually does share.]

I miss them. My brother, my boyfriend, my horse... I dunno, it's weird, but I like it here too, if I think on it. I fit in more here than I ever did at home.

[takeabow]

What's your horse's name?

[ focus, nova, that's not even the most important information ]

I feel the same way, though. The fitting in.

[grounds]

His name's Helios. [There's a ghost of a smile when she talks about him, but she sobers up and nods again.]

Yeah? Are we birds of a feather or whatever that is?

[takeabow]

Well, I never had a horse, but yeah. Maybe when you get two misfits together they become something else.

[ her expression is soft. friendsssss ]

[grounds]

That sounds like the start to a really crappy riddle.

[She nudges Nova with her foot.] I wish you could meet some of them. They'd like you.

[takeabow]

[ rolls her eyes at Octavia's commentary but gets more serious after she gets nudged ]

Yeah? I bet I'd like them too. What are they like?

[grounds]

Bellamy, my brother, took care of me my entire life, even after we got to Earth. He snuck on to the drop ship to look after me. [She falls silent for a moment before giving a small laugh.] I really hated how he tried to do that-- keeping me locked up in camp. But I love him for following me, and I miss him.

[Octavia doesn't move on to the other people just yet, she needs a moment to process the fact she'd just been with him. But not. It's weird.]

[takeabow]

[ warm smile, slightly teasing at the first bit ]

Older siblings are overprotective jerks, what can we say.

But he sounds really great. I'd like to meet him, too.

[grounds]

It's true, but there are redeeming qualities. Don't be too sad about your lot in life.

[She grins now, nodding.] Yeah, he'd like you. Probably groan about my choice in friends being too similar or something.

[takeabow]

Similar to you or similar to other friends?

[grounds]

To me. It'd be a headache waiting to happen.

[A chuckle escapes her.]

[takeabow]

[ Nova also smiles ]

We'd be a force to be reckoned with, huh.

[grounds]

[Octavia leans forward again, resting her arms on her knees. Her smile seems a little warmer as she nudges Nova again.]

I think we already are. [There's a beat, and she follows it up with something she realizes she should've said a while ago.] Thanks.

[takeabow]

[ she seems genuinely confused about where that came from ]

For what?

[grounds]

Stuff. Nothing specific.

[It's true. It was meant as more of a blanket statement, but she's really not going to explain further.

What she does do, is sit forward again, realizing something.]

You know, I just thought of how useful it would've been if I knew how to ride a horse back on the desert moon.

[takeabow]

[ Nova is perfectly happy to let the feelings fall into the ether, but she's appreciative of Octavia's thank-you ]

So you just learned in that time you "got back"?

[grounds]

Yeah. The settlement grew, and so did resources.

[And her fighting skills, too. But that's for another day.]

[takeabow]

So, the horses weren't mutated?

[grounds]

[Octavia actually bursts out laughing at the question, shaking her head immediately.]

Not all of them! We were lucky enough to get a good number that were normal enough.

[takeabow]

[ she laughs at octavia laughing ]

It's not a ridiculous question.

[grounds]

No, it's not. I'm just laughing because after everything here, it's sort of weird that I have to clarify that. Haven't heard of anyone else who has, have you?
