[He wakes up with a little gasp, immediately alert. Poe's not the world's lightest sleeper, but this bunk is way too comfortable, and it doesn't have the vague locker room smell of a Resistance base or the much mankier version that builds up after living in the cockpit of an x-wing for a couple of days.

[This is not the first time in recent memory that Poe's woken up in an unfamiliar place. It's a sad measure of his life that this is by far the best one yet. He's not lost in a burning-hot desert with a pennelx-egg-sized bump on his head and no memory of who he is. Yep, still Poe Dameron, first thing he checks. And he's not strapped to the galaxy's most uncomfortable chair and waiting for the next deeply unpleasant conversation with either an Imperial interrogator or Kylo Ren (jury is still out on which of those was actually worse, he tries to not think about it at all).

So really, it could be a lot worse. Even though there does seem to be something going on with his neck, which is probably bad.

Sit up, look around, look down. Well, he's still got his orange flight suit, insignia and everything, but it's clean. So... that's nice. It's also a giant, flashing, hi, I'm with the Resistance sign, which is--good? Bad?

He slips out of bed and tries the door. Open. Okay. Peers out.]

[Yeah, great move, Dameron. Warn the laundry-loving kidnappers that you're up and about. Excellent spy work. Well. Why not.]

You know I'd hate to spoil all the surprises for you, but the thing is we don't just fly them on missions or something. We also live in them. I think about eight is the smallest complement.

Dunno, if that really answers my questions. If you're on a corvette on a long haul patrol, you live on that boat for months. [Thankfully not duty he's ever pulled, though he's been on carriers before. Whole other story.]

Okay, but when you say "corvette" to me I think of a specific kind of sports car, which as far as I can tell from conversations with people from your world that shouldn't be a thing you know about. [Maybe a sports car, but not the model, right?] So, I decided to take a shot at answering without actually asking you to explain yourself.

Sports car. Huh. Yeah, no idea. Corvette class ships are smaller than frigates.They're normally used for patrols. Pretty small crews, but heavy armament for their size.

I'm from a planet that wasn't doing a ton of space travel. [She knew of other races who were and had some familiarity with that, but she doubted they were using the same terms.] Our domestic problems were keeping us busy.

Ah, gotcha. [Wow, her planet must be a real backwater. But it's not really polite to point that out.]

Guess not. I'm pretty sure my world's issues rippled out to have some damaging effects around us if that helps. [It didn't help the other civilizations.]

Stuff like that tends to happen once you're dealing with more than one planet, if I remember my history right. No one's an island.

The whole not knowing what a corvette is in terms of space operations kind of sounds that way.

Well, when you can just have someone teleport you onto another planet the whole spaceship thing seems a little tedious.
