If anyone's looking for Nomi Sunrider, it seems that Atroma's sent her home.

[There's kind of a pause--wondering if she should say something more? It's not like Nomi's dead. Just back where she was meant to be, honestly, it's a good thing.]

Hopefully this doesn't mess with the timeline--you know, any more than it has been already. [...] So if you need any Ancient Jedi wisdom, it's back to just me.

[Beverly strokes Vima's hair, then brings her hands down to cup Vima's face as she gazes at her with all her motherly tenderness.]

I know. I wish she could have too... It's not fair to you.

...It's not. [That's the feeling that's been growing inside her. Sorrow isn't right, because Nomi's not dead. But it's not happiness either. And it's like Winter said. It's just a game to Atroma.

Jedi are supposed to be wary of anger; that's true even in Vima's time. But she's feeling it now.] It's like--like it was deliberate. She was here long enough for me to think we'd be together, that I wasn't going to be the only Jedi from the mists of history, and then it yanks her away again!

[Unfortunately, Beverly doesn't know about that whole aspect of being a Jedi.]

You have every right to be angry. Frankly, I am too. And I'm tired of seeing this happen over and over and of seeing the people I care about getting hurt... but you have to believe it won't go on forever.

Yeah--you've been here a bit longer than me. And you're the kind of person people go to. You must have this conversation a lot. [She thinks a little. Blue Fish has had its share of departures.] And been on the other side of it, too.

I have, more times than I'd care to count now.

[And it doesn't ever get any easier, either losing people or comforting the ones who've been left behind. The hardest part is the uncertainty of it all.]

But until one or the other of us leaves, I'm going to be here for you, no matter what.

Thanks, Doc. [She really means it. It's weird, how she can feel closer and more comforted by Dr. Crusher than the other Jedi, but then maybe not so weird, not with their strange ideas about attachments and family.] So you know, that goes both ways. I mean, I know you've got friends your own age who might understand your problems better, but I'll be with you for as long as I'm here.
