[He's taken to handling the cacti that Beverly showed him almost as much as he took to sewing and clothing design. The little plants are thriving by now, and he visits them at least once a week even still.

Finn's face is a new one - even though they share a ship, he's somehow managed to miss the man entirely. When he gets up from watering the plants (their weekly watering, all they'll need for now), he spots Finn and offers a smile and a friendly wave.]

[Considering how much time he's been spending on the moon or visiting his friends elsewhere in the Fleet, it's not that surprising there are people he still hasn't met yet. He's on his way back from another exhausting lightsaber training session, which leaves him feeling good but also in need of a shower and a nap. He waves back.]

You're helping with the plants here? Looks good.

[With a laugh, he dusts off his hands and nods.]

Just a couple of the succulents. Most of it's tended more generously by Beverly and a couple of others. [Peering upward and idly noting his face (and the fact that it's definitely a new one for him), he tilts his head and offers a small hand.] I don't think we've met; I'm Qing-Yuan.

Good to meet you, Qing-Yuan. [He manages not to mangle the pronunciation and shakes the proffered hand firmly.] I'm Finn.

Never been on a ship with a garden before. I think it's a good touch. [Rey would like it.]

A pleasure, Finn.

[He nods, glancing over the garden again.] It's nice, having something so alive on ships that seem otherwise cold and unfeeling.

It reminds me a little of home, too.

[Finn shrugs.] The people keep it alive enough for me, but I'm used to ships. They're home to me more than planets are.

[Which he's aware isn't exactly common here, so he adds quickly] But it's pretty cool anyway.

[He nods, still peering up at Finn with the faintest tilt of his head.]

We pretty much crave the situations we were used to, so that makes sense. I just happen to be from Earth, without much space exploration happening yet. You're from a place where space travel is the most common, then?

Oh yeah. I've mostly been on ships and military bases in lots of different systems. Never heard of Earth till I got here.

[And it seems like half of the people here are from that one planet, and most of them before space travel. Weird.]

You look kind of familiar, though. Have I seen you around?

I've heard of a lot of people from there who are here, but they're mostly not from the same time or place I was, I guess. We're just starting to learn about our own star system, nevermind going to other ones.

[Oh. Right. Qing looks a little embarrassed at the question, a laugh on his lips.]

You said your name was Finn, right? I'm your Lab Assistant on the Caprine. You might have missed me for all the reading and sewing I do in my room, though.

[Finn looks flabbergasted for a moment, though it's followed by a rueful grin.]

And I've been out a lot since we got to the moon. I'm sorry about that! But if you need anything from Security, I got you covered.

[To be fair, most everyone on the ship makes a stronger presence on the whole than Qing does, Finn. Especially when Caesar and Jojo were still there.]

It's nothing, no need to apologise. I'll keep it in mind, though hopefully it won't be necessary. [Peering up at Finn, he smiles a little crookedly.] Except maybe to reach the top shelf.

No problem with that. D'you have firearms training? There's enough sidearms for everyone on the ship, but most of them aren't checked out to anyone.

I don't. It's not really been something I had thought much about, though after a couple of situations on one of the planets... [He wrinkles his nose. At least he's learning self-defense now.]

They're probably not terribly difficult to learn, though, right?

[He nods; expected from a civilian, but you never know.] I've been using them so long I can't really say, but if you want to learn, let me know. This moon's a good place to practice.
