[the center painting, which she'd been working on when Beverly came in, showed a castle overlooking a small pond. Towers spiraled up to various heights, giving it an almost crooked appearance. Though they were hard to see without inching closer, small figures graced the windows and one or two seemed to be peeking out from behind the walls on the grounds.

While most of the painting had been done in pastels (fitting for the fairy-tale-esque scenery, she'd begun to add darker tones to the lower right foundation and the ground surrounding it, the still-wet paint beginning to add hints of shadow or smoke.

Another seemed to be set in a bar. A green hand offered a drink to a red-headed woman, her face turned away from the viewer. Most of the image, still unfinished, showed the sketch of two figures standing on a stage, holding mics.

The third canvas, leaning against the wall by the door, was more sketch than painting. It was obviously a ship, but the figures on board were too sketchy to make out.

And, on nearly every flat surface, she had sketches finished to various levels.

Wiping any extra paint from her hands onto her pants, she carefully bundles up a handful of them so that she can take a seat on the end of her bed]

Thank you. It feels good to be able to do this, again. I know I was only on the Marsiva for a week, but that was the first time in ages that I hadn't had something to draw with. Add in missing a week to sleep and...

[she looks around with a laugh] maybe I've gone a bit overboard.

[She smiles back.] Perhaps a little. But I don't think that's a bad thing - art's important, probably even more so in a place like this.

[Studying the paintings, she tilts her head.]

Are these places you've been?
