[ The video flickers on to Leto sitting on his bed, kicking his legs briefly. He grins when the video starts recording, pushing himself onto his feet. He tilts his head, that odd bird-like movement he often exhibits. ]

I have heard some interesting things of late, so I thought I'd put the question to you all. When you fall in love, can you only love one person? Can you fall in love with multiple people? Is love something you find yourself stopping after just one?

Leto... I didn't know. [Of course she didn't.] How do you... Are you okay? [That sounds like a hard thing to live with. She already got that impression from the first time he spoke of the worm, but with less clarity of what it meant.]

[ He blinks, vaguely surprised by her concern. ]

Of course. I'm not easily conquered.

[Her lips twitch into a momentary smile at that.] You better not be. [But of course she's concerned because they're friends, right? He made her tea and everything.]

That is not my end.

[ He takes a sip. That's the problem with Leto. He's deceptive in the way he deals with realities. He fears nothing, is completely ambivalent to normal concerns. ]

You can see your own end? [Somehow she figured the power wouldn't do that. Like it would consider it cheating somehow.]

To some extent. The details may vary, but the stage is set.

Is it far, far away at least? It'd be awkward if you died on my ship. [Joking. Terrible. Just trying to stay floating along here.]

[ Bemused. ]

Five or six centuries. Give or take a few years.

Old man. I guess a girl who was supposed to die at 19 shouldn't feel bad about that. [It's okay to talk casually about her own death, right? She figures he already saw that.]

I am fated to feel old forever, I'm afraid.

[ He lets that remark pass. It's not his place to question how she deals with her death. ]

You got some young years in there somewhere I hope.

Probably.

[ He is sort of caught between youth and age. It's a continuous flux of being for him. ]

It's hard to tell.

Unriddle that one for me? Do you have trouble remembering?

My memory isn't faulty. But when you see everything all the time, it tends to muddy the waters. What truly happened? What could have happened? They open up to me simultaneously.

It sounds like your memory ends up being a choose your own adventure tale. You could just...pick the things you want to remember as real.

[ His expression flickers. ]

That is always a possibility. A dangerous path to take. I could easily manipulate events in my favor. Be in complete control.

[ But the grim demeanor fades as quickly as it comes. ]

But I'm not a big fan of that.

[She watches him curiously as that comes and passes.] You seem pretty well adjusted for someone in your situation. [She reaches out to brush his hair back.] Lucky for the rest of us.

[ The touch surprises him. He forgets that people don't mind touching the wormskin. ]

That remains to be seen.

[She only gets more physically affectionate as she gets closer to people. There may be more surprises in his future.] You always say such worrisome things. I feel like right afterward they put "to be continued..." on the screen and end the episode.

No story simply ends. And the best stories are the ones that continue.

If none of them end doesn't that make them all the best stories?

They are certainly the ones I prefer.

Weirdo. [Said fondly as she sips her tea.]

But you knew that.

And I'm still here. [Smirking.] Of course it's my ship.
