Who: Daenerys Targaryen
Broadcast: fleetwide!
Action: aboard the Caprine
When: Today
[Dany is on a mission today! Ever since she had finally approached the gross planet and had heard from locals of the party coming up, she has decided to try and make a dress for herself. Sadly easier said than done as she normally has them made for her. In her lap rests a length of semi-opaque cloth, a needle in hand as she embroiders the fabric.]
I was wondering, perhaps, if anyone might have skills in leather working? I am attempting to make a gown for the forthcoming festivities and I wish to not have this task compete with my duties aboard the Caprine.
[She has an idea in mind and can draw it up for anyone who might need a visual demonstration. She also might wear the final product around the ship if the dress is suitable enough. She hated wearing the standard issue clothing if she could avoid it.]
I am willing to compensate in whatever means is acceptable for services rendered. I am skilled enough in embroidery and some sewing, but leather is out of my knowledge.

voice; at long last you have to put up with theon
Then again, Robb doesn't tell him much of anything these days, and Theon has little reason to burden himself worrying over a dead House and its last remaining member
shalf the world away. But it is still rather intriguing to have one here at all. ]Next you'll be asking for someone skilled in the making of chainmail.
[ Only because her request vaguely reminds him of Asha. He'll never admit it, but he sort of misses his sister. ]
voice; lmao yes everyone needs to put up with theon at some point in their life... except ramsay 8|
Leather for a belt, or perhaps to be sewn into the fabric is what I am aiming for, but I do not have the skill to treat it myself.
[She'd seen men in Drogo's Khalisaar make it and she'd admired the work, even if Viserys had not.]
voice; he's staying here forever so ramsay can't get him :[
I see no reason why you should. It isn't woman's work.
[ Ohhh, Theon...Stop thinking only with the mindset of a Northman. ]
voice; good ;o; yes keep him here where he won't be hurt
I suppose it is fitting that I am no ordinary woman, then. If you take me for some ordinary kitchen waif who cowers at insult then you are incredibly mistaken.
voice;
A kitchen waif? [ He chuckles. ] Surely not, but I do take you for a member of a long dead house. I believe I've a good idea of who you are.
[ We're gonna get along just swell. ]
voice;
I take it you are from Westeros as well?
[And an idiot, compared to Robb Stark's attempts at diplomacy. At least this one knew she existed and didn't think she was a fisherman's tale.]
voice;
The Iron Islands. [ Can you hear it? Can you hear him smirking? Get used to that. ] Have you read the histories? The ironborn supported the Targaryen kings and the throne. Before Robert laid his claim.
[ In fact, the Greyjoys are probably about as far from Targaryen usurpers as you'll get, considering their neutral stance in Robert's rebellion and Balon's rebellion against Robert. You'll probably meet the other Greyjoys someday if the book ever gets done, Dany. This is a sneak preview of what you have to look forward to. ]
voice;
I am aware of what happened in the past. Are you intending to both insult me for wishing to commission a piece of leather and give me a history lesson? Or is there a point to it.
[Because honestly - as nice as having a fleet from the Iron Islands would be - she is even less sure of the Greyjoys than she was of Quentyn Martell. She wants to know what this boy wants and who he is.]
voice;
Yes. And yes.
[ That sly smirk makes its way back into his tone. At least he didn't lie. ]
I thought you could use the reminder, just in case no one taught you your history. Which one are you, then?
voice;
[Duh. What is this a sass off?]
I am Daenerys Targaryen Queen of Mereen and a Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea. Some call me the Mother of Dragons but you may call me 'Your Grace' when you speak to me.
[Yeah she's not pleased with this one.]
I'll ask again - what do you want?
Re: voice;
[ He backed a guy who literally had no claim just because he was his best friend. He knows what he's talking about. Also, yes, this is definitely a sass-off. ]
What makes you think I want anything?
voice;
[Her temper was beginning to flare up. She's heard this so many times - the sneers and the snide remarks, calling her brother a "Beggar King" when all he'd been trying to do was keep them alive until they could return to their true home.]
You would not contact me if you wanted for nothing, would you? Or do you regularly speak to people with whom you know nothing of or about and make insults?
[For real. He was being a bit of a moron right then.]
Your home is Pyke, yes? The Greyjoys call themselves kings and yet here you are, cast out into this place as I have been. Your situation is no different than my own.
voice;
[ He actually doesn't mean it in an entirely cruel way. Theon doesn't know where his own loyalties lie anymore, but he does know that Westeros is a mess. Too many people are trying to stake their claims. Even Balon Greyjoy had been intent on taking the North from Robb. Adding this young girl to the mix only serves to make things even more complicated for everyone. ]
The Ironborn do as they please. They support who they please, if they choose to support anyone at all. The kings squabbling over that pile of broken swords you call a throne have no real rule over us.
[ Not anymore. Theon isn't his father's incentive to behave any longer. There's nothing preventing Balon from rebelling again. ]
As for how I regularly speak to people--[ His trademark smirk sneaks into his voice yet again. ] I suppose you're just a special target. I've never had the opportunity to insult a Targaryen before.
voice;
[He might be an Ironborn but she expected more. Not this... boy, who tried very hard to be too big for his britches. Gods she hoped they weren't all like that.]
Be careful whom you mean to insult; I assure you there would only be one casualty in that dispute and it wouldn't be me.
[Where is Drogon when she needs him. All the same, her tone is careful. She didn't want to make an enemy of this one but at the same time he was rather disagreeable. Dare she say Robb Stark came across as much more reasonable in comparison.]
Tell me, what is it about my name that interests you so? It can't just be for the fact that you plan to insult me at every turn. You had a reason. Did you want to confirm I am who I say I am? Or perhaps you hoped that I was some simpering girl who cowered at the slightest? It must make you feel rather large to pick a fight with a girl that you can't seem to make afraid of you or cower before you.
[It was actually somewhat cowardly, if you asked her.]
Re: voice;
My people wish to be ruled by no one but their own king. My father, Balon Greyjoy, is the rightful ruler of the Iron Islands. He rebelled against Robert Baratheon for a reason. The driftwood crown is his own, and until you or anyone else can promise that it will be returned to him, I will insult who I please.
[ He's trying so hard, bless him. Theon may be frustrating and a loudmouth, but he's hardly the worst of the lot. That honor is all Euron's. Theon only wants to be accepted and loved, but his uncle is just cruel for no good reason. ]
Your name is what makes you a rarity. You're a dying breed--nearly dead, in fact. Your family's name is not easy to skim over in the histories. I won't ask your forgiveness for my curiosity.
voice;
[Translation: If he's gonna be a dick she's going to make empty threats about the dad he seems to love so much. See? There are totally two immature children in this conversation.]
voice;
He's going to keep being a dick, though. A bit of arguing never stopped him before. ]
Well, then. I'll be insulting you quite a bit, won't I?
[ It never ends. ]
voice;
[And she won't give him the satisfaction of a witty comeback. Instead, she disconnects the conversation between the two of them.]
voice.
I may help.
voice.
[Because honestly she's not that great at the leather thing.]
voice.
Then it shall be so.
voice.
[Is it truly that easy?]
voice.
video;
I've never really worked with leather, but depending on what you have in mind, I may be able to hook you up with a synthetic replacement -
video;
[Because honestly she knows there's a lot of work that goes into it - taking the skins, shaping it to the form it needs to be, toughening up the surface a bit.]
video;
video;
[She's gotten other offers but this one seems like he knows what he's doing. Or at the very least he's asking her very specific questions.]

[Otherwise she would do it herself.]

[And even if it did she planned to pay them handsomely.]

What are you looking to do? I can't do any intricate stamping or designwork, but I can make things like belts and bags and weapon holsters.
voice
A belt or two is all I need - something simple to hold this together.
[She holds up her work for him to see, careful not to drop the needle still in the fabric.]

[She's intrigued by this friend, though. If they are anything like Qing, it might be nice.]
Your friend? Perhaps you could introduce us?
[She needs dresses too for future use!!]

Voice - super late Khaleesi is sorry
[It really was remarkable how so many were willing to help her.]
Perhaps when you have that machine of yours, you could teach me to use it? Hand sewing can be awfully tedious, I'm finding.
[How the heck did her handmaidens do it?]
voice - no worries mang
I would be delighted to. Hand-sewing is good for relaxation, but it becomes too much after a while.
[Probably because it gave them peace from everything else tbh.]
