Seems as though someone didn't want my talents to go to waste. Already was like second nature so the augment does little. [He turns back to examine the setup.]

[He inclines his head and stands beside Tenno, also facing the fishtank. The glowfish are pretty chill, though the blue one seems to be trying to make an oval path in the water as it swims around the same stalk of kelp over and over.]

I'd gladly take the chance but failure isn't something I'd want either. But yes I've noticed. Much less fighting than what is in the Origin system I must say. Which isn't a bad thing.

It is important not to equate unsuccessful attempts in another field with failure on the battlefield, though I understand your point. But if a plant will not grow on a ship, the consequences aren't nearly as dire.

I wouldn't say it was mine. I was merely a tool for them in a war. But the Lotus did. She awoke many of us in order to fix up the system. I had the unfortunate chance of waking to Grineer and ones who wanted to control me however.

They used you as a tool without your consent? [He frowns; it's certainly not unheard-of, but it's a practice he detests - and is the main problem he has with Atroma, the lack of consent.]

The others like me and myself, yes. The system was at war and I suppose it made sense but we never had much say in the whole deal.

Even in wartime that's inexcusable. I'm sorry you were caught up in it. Had it been a choice, that would be entirely different.

The whole system was at war so sooner or later I would've been caught in the turmoil. We were the reason why there is no more of the Old War even if it came at the cost of the Orokin and Sentients. Neither will be missed.

[He frowns lightly - the loss of a culture is something to regret, but the end of a war certainly isn't. Interesting.]

Closer to it but not there yet. Being forced to sleep allowed the entire system to go to hell and the others and I were trying to fix it. Now I'm here.

I hope it's resolved soon, then, and without too much further trouble. The few conflicts we have here are on a much smaller scale, as I'm sure you've noticed.

It'll take time to heal the system after getting control back from the Corpus and the Grineer. Plus there's always derelicts that need to be cleaned up. I however can't be a part of that since I'm stuck here in the meantime.

I will try to be of use for you all while I'm here though.

So which of the plants are edible and which are strictly medicinal? Wrath told me about the kelp on an earlier visit. [He's rather curious by all of this and fascinated that plants could be so useful on a ship.]

I keep the medicinal ones on the shelves, as they often require processing before they're safe to use. Everything on the ground has at least one use in cooking, and I've compiled a short guide as to how to use them on the communicators. Misty should also be able to tell you, as she's quite fond of plants.

So unless you prepare them properly, they're more likely to cause harm at first rather than healing? Interesting. The only sort of beneficial plants I worked with had to be carefully extracted and used as antitoxins but nothing above that. That's an ingenious way to not mix the two varieties though.

Maybe when I meet her, I'll ask about it.

Some of them, yes. Consider-- [He indicates a little shrubby bush with fragrant leaves.] This one is toxic if ingested, but produces a strong disinfectant and antimicrobial compound for topical use. The oil can also be distilled and used as an air freshener.

Poisonous yet helpful. So long as someone doesn't decide to actually lick their wounds rather than keep it a simple saying, it should prove to be more so the latter. I don't know about freshening the air unless it was life support for survival incursions though.
