It's nice to have the option though, if you want it!

Um. Well, Dr. Crusher is working with people to try to build the equipment to talk to the nanobots and do the other complicated stuff, so it's proceeding! Which is good. Just gotta be patient.

It was way easier to be patient when I didn't think anyone could fix it.

He seems to worry about a lot. [Ordis needs to calm his computer tits.]

Yeah, yeah. I know. I'm just bad at the patience thing sometimes. So I try to keep busy. [Aw, such a nice compliment! Sunny smile.] Thank you, Tenno!

Now that you're here and we're sharing security duties, we should figure out how to split things up.

Yeah, it's really hard when you go from being able to do stuff to suddenly not being able to. Trust me, I know. We just have to be patient and help him. And tell him to calm the fuck down if it comes to that, cause sometimes you just need to be told.

Hm. I'd rather have a 50-50 split of duties and we could rotate but... if I'm not being dumb, until Beverly fixes my back we should probably do an uneven split where you get stuck with the shit that involves heavy lifting and stuff. [Sigh.] And I feel bad about that.

Aw, thanks. [She gives him a friendly little punch on the arm.]

Is there a way to kind of... short circuit him? Like when I got too upset about something back home, Maine would dump the kitten on me. Or drag me out for ice cream. Just give me something else to think about.

Okay! I can take care of the inventory and stuff then, and the delicate cleaning. Stuff I can do while I'm sitting down. You'll have to do the regular checks and testing. We've also got a crewman that doesn't know how to use projectile or beam weapons at all--Makie--so she'll need your help. I want to get her a sword eventually, but that's more of a long term project because if we're going to get some of us outfitted with melee weapons, they need to be good.

It's mostly just kind of... pushing him onto a track of thought for something that makes him happy? Or at least doesn't freak him out. So stuff that he likes. I don't really know him well enough to suggest. But computer people do tend to like... math stuff. [So she's not going to be able to help with that much because math is a total mystery to her.]

I can go along with you for the first if you want on training, and offer help. If you're doing the running around that means I can sit.

Sounds like we have a plan though.

Yeah, gotta figure out the best way to help him get acquainted with the crew without overloading him. He seems like the kind who might hide in his room a lot, so I'm a little worried. Crew integration is very important for morale, and Ordis's morale is important too!

I'm sure you will. [Wrath expects great things of people in general. She's rarely disappointed.]

So I think one thing we should look into on the moon is if it's got any supplies we can use for a... back home they called them reforges, but you can do some pretty good stuff with dimensional metal printers. I'm not an engineer, but I'm hoping maybe Vision could help us come up with the machining if I can explain what I want to him. But I'd trust any kind of hand weapons we manufacture ourselves over almost anything we could pick up in a market out there. Most of it's cheap tourist shit that wouldn't hold an edge, it's really sad.

We're gonna have to like... put him outside and water him like a plant or something, or he's gonna get all droopy and not know why. But yeah, baby steps are best. It's hard on computer people to get stuck in human people bodies. I know Delta told me he had a hard time with... uh... sensory overload. So he should totally get as much alone time as he needs.

Hm. Do you know how those foundry things are made? [If he knows more than her, that would probably help. She wishes she was more of a technical person, she really does.] Just wait til you see the shit on the moon, you could snap some of that stuff one handed without trying.

I don't know what a kavat is.

Hm, maybe a little. But I guess it means figuring out how much time he actually needs to be okay, and how much of it is him being a poop.

Ah well, darn. I'm sure we'll figure something out though.

So it's like... a lizard cat? I don't know what infestation is, but that sounds gross. [Maybe it's like dysthrophe?] But I guess that must be useful?

You know him better than I do. [Grin.] How much of a determined poop is he?
pain_train: (grin 7)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-04-22 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
Infestation just sounds like it's very bad.

Very determined poop, then. Okay. Well, I'm determined too. He can't be as stubborn as my partner, so I'm ready.
pain_train: (i wish i could remember)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-04-22 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I hope so too. I also hope there isn't dysthrophe here. There was something kind of like that on the Iskaulit, back when we first found the ship and there were still Nunilis on it. Scared the shit out of me, but it didn't affect humans.

Maine? Maine's great. He doesn't talk much. And he's huge! And grouchy. But... he's a good guy beneath it all. He's a good guy to have at your back, always. He doesn't let anything bad happen to the people he cares about.

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-04-22 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Dysthropes are people that got infected by the dysthrophe. It makes them mutate and get weird looking and huge and then go crazy. They eat other people, and the only way to stop them is cutting them up or blowing off their heads. It's really fucked up. The Nunilis are these aliens that built the Iskaulit. We've seen them on other planets too. They're actually really friendly, but on the Iskaulit they'd been infected with this fungus thing that basically ate their brains.

That's why the Nunilis let us keep that ship. They didn't want to risk taking it back in case putting it in hard vacuum wasn't enough to kill the fungus stuff. And that's why I started the big memorial mural in it. The people on the ship deserved better than what happened to them, but there wasn't anything we could do.

It's... really rare to find another person that really gets what kind of fucked up shit is crawling around in your head, right? I was lucky to find him.
pain_train: (i wish you knew)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-04-23 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
It's... not good. If someone gets infected, you shoot 'em. It's the merciful thing to do. Cause there's no cure.

[She nods. Okay, so maybe that infestation thing is kind of here. But it could be worse.]

Someone who listens, too.
