Um. Well, Dr. Crusher is working with people to try to build the equipment to talk to the nanobots and do the other complicated stuff, so it's proceeding! Which is good. Just gotta be patient.
It was way easier to be patient when I didn't think anyone could fix it.
no subject
That sounds like a start. Patience is always good when it comes to injuries. Things need to be done right rather than rushed and wind up worse than they already are. You'll get through it though. You're strong, Wrath.
no subject
Yeah, yeah. I know. I'm just bad at the patience thing sometimes. So I try to keep busy. [Aw, such a nice compliment! Sunny smile.] Thank you, Tenno!
Now that you're here and we're sharing security duties, we should figure out how to split things up.
no subject
Can't blame you. Being able to do things without an injury is always nice. But you're welcome.
How would you like to do that? You're the senior specialist here. [Plus he didn't know how things ran here.]
no subject
Hm. I'd rather have a 50-50 split of duties and we could rotate but... if I'm not being dumb, until Beverly fixes my back we should probably do an uneven split where you get stuck with the shit that involves heavy lifting and stuff. [Sigh.] And I feel bad about that.
no subject
Until you're healed, I'm fine with taking the brunt of the work. You don't need to push yourself more than you physically should with such an injury. When you're all good, fifty fifty works for me.
no subject
Is there a way to kind of... short circuit him? Like when I got too upset about something back home, Maine would dump the kitten on me. Or drag me out for ice cream. Just give me something else to think about.
Okay! I can take care of the inventory and stuff then, and the delicate cleaning. Stuff I can do while I'm sitting down. You'll have to do the regular checks and testing. We've also got a crewman that doesn't know how to use projectile or beam weapons at all--Makie--so she'll need your help. I want to get her a sword eventually, but that's more of a long term project because if we're going to get some of us outfitted with melee weapons, they need to be good.
no subject
Short circuit? [To be fair, kissing the cephalon had that kind of effect when he started to fuss one night.] I mean I could probably get him going on a tangent of some kind involving physics or some feat of engineering and then he sort of winds down in order to do research. Not too sure if animals would be a good thing for him. He doesn't like them much.
That sounds reasonable. I haven't taught anyone or at least not in a long time so I would be ok with that. Testing is easy as well. Make certain that everything is properly working and if improvements can be made even though this stuff could use a serious overhaul already.
no subject
I can go along with you for the first if you want on training, and offer help. If you're doing the running around that means I can sit.
Sounds like we have a plan though.
no subject
That would be appreciated. I hope that I can live up to your expectations.
[Things are really working out here. He offers a smile and content nod before reassembling the gun in order to put it back into its storage.]
no subject
I'm sure you will. [Wrath expects great things of people in general. She's rarely disappointed.]
So I think one thing we should look into on the moon is if it's got any supplies we can use for a... back home they called them reforges, but you can do some pretty good stuff with dimensional metal printers. I'm not an engineer, but I'm hoping maybe Vision could help us come up with the machining if I can explain what I want to him. But I'd trust any kind of hand weapons we manufacture ourselves over almost anything we could pick up in a market out there. Most of it's cheap tourist shit that wouldn't hold an edge, it's really sad.
no subject
[He really doesn't want to let her down. Disappointment wasn't something that he wanted to be associated with her.]
That sounds almost like a foundry. That was used on the ship in order to create weaponry and other gear so that seems similar to those reforges of yours. I'd be more than willing to help with the gathering of materials and especially if that means we won't have to deal with this cheap trash any longer than we should.
no subject
Hm. Do you know how those foundry things are made? [If he knows more than her, that would probably help. She wishes she was more of a technical person, she really does.] Just wait til you see the shit on the moon, you could snap some of that stuff one handed without trying.
no subject
Sadly no. It was built into the liset and I had to hunt down the pieces that the Grineer scavenged. If anyone knows, it would be Ordis since he maintained it. [Sorry Wrath but he's just as clueless as you.] You could say it's easy pickings then.
no subject
Hm, maybe a little. But I guess it means figuring out how much time he actually needs to be okay, and how much of it is him being a poop.
Ah well, darn. I'm sure we'll figure something out though.
no subject
That sounds like quite the endeavor. Hopefully Ordis doesn't take advantage of it.
[He nods.] We will someday.
no subject
You know him better than I do. [Grin.] How much of a determined poop is he?
no subject
That's true. He can show quite the stubbornness when he desires to so I would probably go with quite a bit. [That was honestly a severe understatement.]
no subject
Very determined poop, then. Okay. Well, I'm determined too. He can't be as stubborn as my partner, so I'm ready.
no subject
Clash of the stubborn, hm? I never got to ask much but what was your partner like? I know you miss him.
no subject
Maine? Maine's great. He doesn't talk much. And he's huge! And grouchy. But... he's a good guy beneath it all. He's a good guy to have at your back, always. He doesn't let anything bad happen to the people he cares about.
no subject
He sounds like a worthy partner and I can see why you miss him so much.
no subject
That's why the Nunilis let us keep that ship. They didn't want to risk taking it back in case putting it in hard vacuum wasn't enough to kill the fungus stuff. And that's why I started the big memorial mural in it. The people on the ship deserved better than what happened to them, but there wasn't anything we could do.
It's... really rare to find another person that really gets what kind of fucked up shit is crawling around in your head, right? I was lucky to find him.
no subject
But what happened to Nunilius sounds similar to the infestation. It's not really an infection but takes over a host and controls them. I can understand why they wouldn't want the ship back. Dramatic memories like that can cause some resentment of places and the like.
Indeed it is. [He doesn't know if he's ever truly found one like her partner.]
no subject
[She nods. Okay, so maybe that infestation thing is kind of here. But it could be worse.]
Someone who listens, too.
