We have a masquerade coming up, and I was bored so I thought I'd mettle in people's lives for my own amusement. First, the disclaimer, there is nothing wrong with going to a dance solo.

Now, for anyone else, who wants a date?

Sorry, not me. Taken. But there are probably some of you out there thinking a date would be fun, and sure, why not? So speak up. Let's make some love connections. Or, you know, awkward dancing connections. I'm a mutant, not a miracle worker.

Oh? That's quite a relief.

[ Leto is a proficient dancer. The skills remain deep in his consciousness and it was important to know. Courtly manners and all. ]

I figured. I wanted you to be able to sleep easily before the big day. I wouldn't want the anxiety weighing on you.

I do wrinkle easily, it's true. Thankfully, I have plenty of dance experience. One of the perks of being royalty.

Probably in fancy clothes and everything. Which is good because as soon as you said you wrinkle easily all I could think was that you were dry clean only.

An arid environment makes drying clothes fairly easy.

[ And they don't use the Fremen methods of conserving water at the palace. ]

Oh, that's why you picked that kingdom. It's all making sense now.

[ His expression softens a lot. ]

I would not say I picked it.

[She notices the change, but isn't sure what she triggered there.] No, I guess that's not how those things work. At least not without some seizing and war. [Which she wasn't assuming.]

There was certainly an element of that involved, though I had little part in it.

[Is that why the expression?] It's a good sort of thing to avoid.

[ He purses his lips. ]

As much as one can.

Yeah. Oh, and I might have someone for you. Just checking on the power comfort situation. [She's already pretty sure Laura wouldn't be comfortable with it given the way she reacted around Jedi and Nightingale was only looking for ladies. But Furiosa maybe? She's really not qualified to match personalities, okay? But she likes them both so why not?]

You certainly work fast.

[ He's impressed. Even doubly so if it doesn't end in fire and brimstone. ]

Too fast. I might have spoken too soon. [The power thing was beyond the comfort zone. So much fail, Pryde.]

[ He shrugs, not particularly bothered. ]

It is a sensitive issue.

I guess. I mean, it is, [it's not that she doesn't get where it is invasive and kind of intimate] but it's also just part of who you are and you shouldn't be treated differently for that.

[ He laughs. ]

Well, I am a difficult person to get along with.

I've never had a trouble with it. [Okay, maybe moments of confusion or frustration, but that's just people, right?]

I never said everyone does.

[ He pauses, gentler. ] It's all right to stop.

I just started and I know. [She picked this up on a whim and she can drop it the same way...maybe. She would like to do something nice for Leto. She knows getting him a date to a dance won't make losing someone he cares about any better, but might as well make all the positive changes she can, right?]
