We have a masquerade coming up, and I was bored so I thought I'd mettle in people's lives for my own amusement. First, the disclaimer, there is nothing wrong with going to a dance solo.

Now, for anyone else, who wants a date?

Sorry, not me. Taken. But there are probably some of you out there thinking a date would be fun, and sure, why not? So speak up. Let's make some love connections. Or, you know, awkward dancing connections. I'm a mutant, not a miracle worker.

Well, first, I'd say it's my innate ability to combine things. For instance, I have been known to make a killer peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Sure, some people might think that's too traditional, but when something works, it works. And secondly, I was very bored which makes me an excellent candidate. [Clearly taking this all very seriously.]

So by that logic, who should I go to the masquerade with if I was inclined to do so?

Leto. He's a jelly man all the way. [And she hasn't found any other good matches. Of course she also hasn't asked if she likes men or would be uncomfortable being around someone with his powers, but she's taking a shot.]

Leto has such a problem with me he transferred off my ship to get away from me.

Did he seriously? [She did notice he was on the Blameless now which was definitely a transfer situation. But it was hard to imagine him having a problem with someone and needing to escape them.]

He apparently has problems with authority. When I made it clear I take being Captain seriously, he transferred rather than deal with me.

I guess it's good to know your limitations. [She laughs lightly.] So maybe not him then. What were you having people do?

Not much of anything, actually. I just made an announcement to introduce myself and explain my style of leadership. I pointed out that I expect them to trust that when I give an order, especially in an emergency situation, it's for the good of the whole ship. Apparently he wasn't prepared to do that.

So anyway, other ideas?

This is her, yes. Nice to meet you, Ramse. I have to admit, I wasn't really looking for a date to the dance, but I never mind meeting new people.

That's alright, I only answered because it was Kitty. We don't have to go together, we could just see each other there.

I've never danced before, but I'm not against it in general. I'd just be worried about stepping on my partner's feet a lot. I'm not used to wearing dresses, either.

That's true, they've got a market for them already. I don't actually like wearing things that cover my mouth and nose, though, it feels like I can't breathe. I don't know if I could keep one on for the whole party.
