We have a masquerade coming up, and I was bored so I thought I'd mettle in people's lives for my own amusement. First, the disclaimer, there is nothing wrong with going to a dance solo.

Now, for anyone else, who wants a date?

Sorry, not me. Taken. But there are probably some of you out there thinking a date would be fun, and sure, why not? So speak up. Let's make some love connections. Or, you know, awkward dancing connections. I'm a mutant, not a miracle worker.

Well... Sounds like someone I'd like to meet, anyway.

Meeting is a great idea! ...That I did not think through in the slightest. She is talking to me if you want to just jump in and set something up?

... You should probably think this through for people who don't know each other. If it's a masquerade, trying to get people to meet up with people they don't know while in masks is gonna end badly.

Oh, that always gets confusing. There's a couple people here like that for me, too.

Confusing is the X-Men way. But yeah. Allen is another one like that for me. [And things are not going well between them now so moving on!]

[That gets a soft laugh.] Yeah, she's kind of gorgeous. [Which is very weird to admit when she's also Logan's clone and Logan was basically her replacement father/mentor.]

It gets to be a pain... Kind of wondering if there's other fucked-up versions of me wandering around. I haven't heard of any yet, but...

Seriously, damn.

Hmm, I think it bothers me more the other way. Wondering about better versions. [She really never had considered versions who might be doing truly awful things. Maybe she should considering how different the Hank here is from the McCoy of her world.]

I'll take that as a job well started at least.

If they're still me, even the better versions will be fucked up.

I'll second that and maybe avoid asking about the first time. Especially since being on a poison moon does seem to increase the odds.

So, lighter conversation: What sort of things does she like? Anything in particular I should avoid bringing up?

I wish I had better answers for those. I need to get to know her better too. I think you've probably both got some hot spots in your past and you can probably navigate it?

Yeah, bringing up murder and torture is probably more second date kind of stuff.

Speaking of serious things, how are you okay again? Did you figure out what caused it?

Those things tend to wear off after a while. Like I said, it's not the first time I've been turned into that.

As for what caused it, I'd bet you every credit I have that it was the Atroma's fault.

Messing with someone randomly and independently of everyone else? That's going to take some getting used to. [That's not how it ever seemed to work at the prison.]

[She shrugs.]

That's how it worked a lot of the time at the castle. Echoes would just do weird shit. I'm just glad the Atroma haven't tried to copy some of the weirder ones.

[Yeah, getting turned into a bird monster isn't one of the weirder ones.]

In the prison every few days something would happen and it usually happened to almost everyone with some variations. What would you consider weird at this point?

Getting locked in closets or handcuffed to someone and not being able to get out until you learned something new, the forced emotion-sharing links, the flowers that showed your memories... These actually happened fairly regularly.
