[The night has finally come--the Gravity Rush is nearly upon us! What normally serves as a large performance hall has been gutted, emptied of its boring furniture and rigged up into a fantastical mismatch of technology and old culture. No matter where you go tonight, you're encouraged to move around, dance, play games, whatever helps you sleep in late tomorrow morning.

If you aren't one for scurrying around a ballroom all night, there's always plenty of people-watching to do. After all, so many people are wearing extravagant costumes and elaborate masks. How can you even tell who is who? Get lost in a crowd of sequins, chatter with a sun and a moon, or try to beat the guy in the monster-mask at a game of cards. Meet your friends or make some new ones--this masquerade party has begun!]

They can be overwhelming. I am used to them, but for the longest time, I rarely liked going to such things, either.

Really? [That surprises him.] Were there a lot of balls back where you're from?

In a manner of speaking. Not many to this scale or size, no, but I attended a lot of salons and smaller parties when I was younger. My mother liked to make me attend.

[What with growing up dirt poor and everything. Any party he attended, it was as the entertainment only]

If you're fond of gossiping and making small talk, it's wonderful. If you don't, it's awful. Unfortunately, I hated it for most of my life. I wanted to be practicing with my sword, not being stuffed into dresses.

I am. I suppose I'm a glutton for punishment.

[She snickers a bit.]

...okay, maybe I missed it a little bit. Back home, it had been some time since I had really been to such a thing. [With the exception of her wedding] And, I don't know. It's a little different when your mother isn't dragging you by the ear to one.

Ah yes, I'd imagine it's a very different experience from being dragged by the ears.

[He laughs]

Well, then, I hope you have a good time. Though if it'd hurt your reputation, I can say you were dragged to this one too.

Something to do with it being a matter of choice, I suppose.

[If they had been in Highever, then she would have almost seriously considered his offer, however joking. She was quite known for digging in her heels about it.]

But I suppose the question would be who dragged me?
