[The night has finally come--the Gravity Rush is nearly upon us! What normally serves as a large performance hall has been gutted, emptied of its boring furniture and rigged up into a fantastical mismatch of technology and old culture. No matter where you go tonight, you're encouraged to move around, dance, play games, whatever helps you sleep in late tomorrow morning.

If you aren't one for scurrying around a ballroom all night, there's always plenty of people-watching to do. After all, so many people are wearing extravagant costumes and elaborate masks. How can you even tell who is who? Get lost in a crowd of sequins, chatter with a sun and a moon, or try to beat the guy in the monster-mask at a game of cards. Meet your friends or make some new ones--this masquerade party has begun!]

[Ahsoka takes it, radiating a kind of carefree happiness that she hasn't had since before the incident with Greedling.]

Well, what are you waiting for then? Oh learned one.

[beardstrokes]

Flattery will get you nowhere.

[ He takes up position. ] Remember to keep your hand up, on my shoulder.

[resnipstance]

[She does so, though her brow furrows a little as she instantly shifts from fun-mode to trying-to-learn-mode.]

[She gets it, but then instantly her focus wanders-- where did Obi-Wan learn to dance, anyway? Has he ever danced at an event like this as a Jedi? Has Anakin?]

[beardstrokes]

[ He gently places it on his shoulder. ]

It's a loose touch. This is how most dances start off at the beginning before other variations come in with the music.

So I see.

So when did you get to learn all this, anyway? Was it for a mission?

[beardstrokes]

Something like that. Satine taught me so I could be there for her coronation.

[ He had protested deeply at that, but she silenced him with one sharp look. One dance, Ben, she said finally, and you had better not drop me like last time. She had been meticulous about it, even though the niceties of court life wasn't something she enjoyed. ]

Oh...

[Ahsoka pauses, and there's a hesitance in the Force around her as she seems to grope for the appropriate reaction. It seems like a fond memory, but Satine's death now lingers over it, too. Finally--]

[resnipstance]

... Well, if it was Satine that taught you, you must be good. She never did anything by half-measures.

[beardstrokes]

I never heard any complaints.

[ And he remembers it well, whether he realized it or not. He never practiced, but the steps are coming home to old friends. ]

[resnipstance]

No? Not even when you were still learning?

[Speaking of learning: Ahsoka's always been a good kinetic learner-- anything that involves physical movement she's always picked up faster than something that required reading-- and years of Jedi training have lent some natural grace. So she isn't as clumsy as a beginner might otherwise be. The Force helps too, helping her to anticipate Obi-Wan's movements and where he'll step next, so there isn't even much in the way of toe-stepping. Obi-Wan's toes are mostly safe for now.]

[beardstrokes]

[ Thank goodness. ]

I think people were mostly impressed that a Jedi can dance to begin with.

[resnipstance]

What, really? Why? I mean, lightsaber combat is a kind of dance, right? And it's way more complicated.

[beardstrokes]

Yes, but how often do we see someone do this with ease?

[ He manages a fancy flourish. ]

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka laughs with delight.]

Come off it, now you're just showing off!

[Her tone is full of warmth though, not reproach.]

[beardstrokes]

It's important to put on a good show.

[ Obi-Wan would make a good politician. Too bad he hates the profession. ]

[resnipstance]

So, when's the dance-off with Senator Amidala?

[beardstrokes]

Never, if I can help it.

[resnipstance]

What! Come on. I'm sure she'll go easy on you. Probably.

[beardstrokes]

When has she ever gone easy on me?

[resnipstance]

Hm. You raise a good point.

Maybe if you ask nicely?

[beardstrokes]

I suppose it might give me a fighting chance.

[resnipstance]

[Teasingly--] She's always been nice to me. Maybe it's something about your face?

[beardstrokes]

It is probably the beard.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka stares at him for a moment, one eyebrow raised. Unbeknownst to Obi-Wan, she's trying to picture him without it.]

You sure do get a lot of flak for it, huh? I think it suits you! It's very... distinguished.

[beardstrokes]

That is the idea. It sets the image for a Jedi Master or I would look very out of place at the Jedi Council.
