Masquerade Mingle
[The night has finally come--the Gravity Rush is nearly upon us! What normally serves as a large performance hall has been gutted, emptied of its boring furniture and rigged up into a fantastical mismatch of technology and old culture. No matter where you go tonight, you're encouraged to move around, dance, play games, whatever helps you sleep in late tomorrow morning.
If you aren't one for scurrying around a ballroom all night, there's always plenty of people-watching to do. After all, so many people are wearing extravagant costumes and elaborate masks. How can you even tell who is who? Get lost in a crowd of sequins, chatter with a sun and a moon, or try to beat the guy in the monster-mask at a game of cards. Meet your friends or make some new ones--this masquerade party has begun!]
[[ooc: All sections are up now, have fun! A related ooc post is HERE for any questions or plotting you'd like to do.]]

[He clears his throat, and tugs on the lapel of his coat just once.] Isn't it? On my modest spending spree with my boots, I asked for a new suit. This is what they came up with.
[One corner of his mouth pulled up at the corners.] Are you now? Now I am flattered.
no subject
Who was talking about Winn? [Maybe just a touch worried. Not that there should be anything to worry about. It's Winn. He doesn't seem like the enemy-making type.]
no subject
[He waved his hand a little.] No one in particular. I've seen his name, out and about on the network. He seems to be a bright young man. A bit ... unsure of himself, but still, very bright. Is he a good friend?
no subject
You keep an eye on the network too. [She does that herself though she's been less intent on it as she's relaxed into the place.] Yes, he's bright, talented, sweet, and a good friend. He's also my date. [And maybe her boyfriend, but she's having trouble committing to the term and position. It's easier to think of the pain that might be waiting at the end.]
no subject
[Now ... apparently Winn was someone he was going to have to deal with, in a completely not lethal manner.] I see, so he is my rival for your affections. [He eyes the gown again, for several reasons.] And he already knows what sort of gowns you prefer ... the man has an unfair advantage. Tell him he has to be less intelligent and witty than I am.
no subject
Now, are you going to ask me to dance or do I need to do all the work?
no subject
[There, leave that one out, and he can now arch an eyebrow at her.] I didn't realize you wanted to caper. [He put his glass down on the table, before he bowed.] My lady Kitty, would you do me the honor of looking rather foolish, dancing about with a man who comes to your, ah, waist?
no subject
And I always want a caper. I think. If it means dance I do. If you're using it more like an escapade or heist then I'm probably in for that too.
[She imitates a curtsy she saw Margaery do once. Probably getting it a little off, but it's just for fun.] I'd be honored. I also have a possible solution to height difference if you're interested.
no subject
...Where I come from, it means a foolish dance, but as you wish it.
[His lips curve up at the corners, watching her curtsy, before he does a more formal bow.] I would be pleased for you to show me this particular trick?
no subject
[She holds her hand down to him. Once he does she'll phase them both, making them intangible to everyone and everything but each other, but he shouldn't notice any change at first.] Just hold my hand and take a step up like you're walking up a staircase or ladder. The air will seem solid under your feet.
no subject
[He put his hand in hers, and suddenly felt ... different. As if here, and yet not here. He arched an eyebrow at her.] All right, but when I fall on my face, I am going to realize you did in fact understand what I meant by capering dance.
[One step up. Then another. Then ... another. Until he was just slightly looking down on her.] Now ... here is an advantage I did not think of. Remind me to be more charming than Winn, so you'll consider me just for this? [He grinned again, before holding out his arms appropriately.] We shall ... waltz, correct?
no subject
[She just shakes her head, amused at his Winn comment. Poor Winn.]
Waltzing sounds good. Just one very important rule to remember, and I don't think you'll have any trouble with it. You can't let go of me unless you want to fall. [She moves her other hand up to his shoulder. And of course the back of her dress is largely open so he can enjoy that.
no subject
Then a waltz it shall be ... where I cannot let go of you. Such a shame. I shall weep. [He wraps his small hand around her waist, before he pushes off in the first step, keeping his grip firm - purely to lead of course.]
no subject
I'm sure Kurt—the only other one here from my world—would agree with you about handsome heroes. [She looks around the dance floor before nodding to a a man in a pirate costume.] He's the shirtless one with a tail. He's usually blue. Apparently, being grey was part of the costume somehow? Anyway, he can literally disappear in a wisp of smoke.
[She moves long with him, following his lead. There is still an adjustment to dancing even with him airwalking higher up, but she's figuring out how to compensate for it.] I thought you might be disappointed by all the touching.
no subject
Well, if he is a hero, I am sure he will. [He looks where she is pointing, and nods at the shirtless young man with the tail. The tail might get him looks, but the rest of him looked more than appealing enough, so he doubted Kurt had issues.] And he is in fact handsome, so there you have it.
[It is at that, considering how short his arms are, and this is his very first waltz.] Oh yes, absolutely disappointed. See how disappointed my face is.
no subject
I do. Smiles must be very deceptive where you're from. Speaking of where you're from, I finally realized Margaery is from there too. And I met Robb Stark.
no subject
[A quiet snort.] It depends entirely on where you are smiling, and with whom. [He brightens, then frowns.] Margaery is loveliness herself, wrapped in enough wit to use it. Robb Stark ... well. He's a Stark.
no subject
Margaery is one of my crewmates now. I like her. I have a good crew.
[She remembers Robb making a somewhat insulting jab at Tyrion for his stature. She shut that down immediately. Other than that she'd like him, but that was a pretty big "other than that" to judge someone for what they are and not who. He came back with some comments about them being on different sides of a war that were more understandable though.] What's wrong with the Starks?
no subject
[He smiled a bit more at that.] She is easy to be liked, and she will look out for your best interests, no worries there.
[Now that was an interesting question, and he looked back at her.] Absolutely nothing. They are good, honorable family - brave to a fault. Stubborn, though, and oftentimes ... unwilling to bend where bending could have saved lives, including their own. [He sighed softly.] I am afraid politics is not a game that the Starks play well. They lack the duplicity for it.
no subject
Sounds like I'd be bad at politics too. [She would hesitate to call herself good. But brave, stubborn, and honest are things she can describe herself with freely. Of course, the reason she stops at good and honorable is because of the ways she's had to bend in order to save lives.] Good thing I also have no interest in it.

[She can appreciate the survival tactic though. She had powers and her team. It's how she got through war until trusting someone she loved got her killed. He was alone and at a disadvantage in a physical fight.]
no subject
[Is his simple and grave response. Kitty had been nothing but kind to him, gracious, even warm. She had told him things that most would consider confidences. To use that in some clever game? Would be reprehensible.]
