Masquerade Mingle

[The night has finally come--the Gravity Rush is nearly upon us! What normally serves as a large performance hall has been gutted, emptied of its boring furniture and rigged up into a fantastical mismatch of technology and old culture. No matter where you go tonight, you're encouraged to move around, dance, play games, whatever helps you sleep in late tomorrow morning.

If you aren't one for scurrying around a ballroom all night, there's always plenty of people-watching to do. After all, so many people are wearing extravagant costumes and elaborate masks. How can you even tell who is who? Get lost in a crowd of sequins, chatter with a sun and a moon, or try to beat the guy in the monster-mask at a game of cards. Meet your friends or make some new ones--this masquerade party has begun!]

"Well, it's been a while since I wore it... since I retired, really." There's no need for Apollo of the Authority. He tried using a civilian name, but he was a bit too recognised for that, so instead he became Apollo, Jenny's dad and wore cargo pants and tees and not skin tight armour that could absorbs as much heat as he did.

"Maybe I'll manage to find something fairly durable on one of these stop over worlds."

Maglor nods thoughtfully. "I do not know what would be required in the making of such a thing, but in a place like this, surely they would be able to generate sonething similar. I fear it far outside what I know! Well, the Dwarves had the secret of armor that could bear dragon-flame, but I suspect even were it enough you would not wish to wear armor constantly!"

"It wouldn't hold up to the heats I need it to."

How to explain the intense heat of a star? Where reality itself is starting to burn, reshaping the fundamentals of the world into new elements?

"Honestly, I'm not sure how I withstand the heats I do..."

"I fear I am the wrong one of my brothers to discuss this with." Maglor says almost apologetically. "For I am sure that the details are likely highly interesting. Having said that... I assume the same technology that allows us to sail between stars must mean there are folk who might be able to create something suitable. I hope so, in any case!"

"Well, I hope so, I'd hate to fly out naked and traumatise everyone looking out the windows of their ships. Technical details aren't my thing, either."

"Does using your abilities so always generate such heat? I suppose at the least you might be able to find something for lower heats, if you could control it."

"Oh, no, I just give off slightly feverish heat, usually. It's just if I go out near the sun, it's hot and I can take it. Clothing can't. Or I walk on hot things and don't realise and my shoes slag in the heat. I just don't notice heat."

"Ah." Maglor hums thoughtfully. "That is a hard one to manage. On the plus side i suppose it gives you a good excuse to go clothes shopping often!"

"... I suppose there's that to be said for it."

He's not much of one for clothes shopping. He's built in ways that are human ideal, but not very often actually found in reality. Clothing never quite fits right.

Maglor's main experience of shopping is actually for tailor-made things, so he shrugs a little wryly.

"Nor I, but if one cannot sew..."
